Yesterday the BMW M2 Competition Ppackage was unveiled.
With the M3/M4's 3.0l straight six twin turbo engine rated at 404hp, don't be surprised to see it powering a GRMN version of the Supra as well.
The sun is setting on the S55 engine, and while the M2 and M4 currently have it, they will be refreshing the M2, M3 and M4 soon. When they are refreshed, they will introduce a new engine that will likely be based on the current B58 engine. There is a distinction between launching a special edition on a car that is already several years old and will be refreshed soon — and a brand new car that won't see a refresh for several years after it is launched and the launch itself is still almost a year out. They wouldn't launch a car with an engine that will be retired soon, and based on all the reporting, the Supra will initially launch with a B58 derived engine, and then if/when a higher trimmed spec is released, it will likely be based on the new M3/M4 engine.

eventually a 3.0L would find its way to TMC. But since the supra is sharing with BMW, then Lexus might be the one to get it to replace the 350 models. Mercedes just released an I6 engine, wont be surprised if TMC has one in works.

people forget that while hte A80 supra debut with a high and low power model simulatenously, often isn't the case.

The A70 supra debuted with the lower power, and the high power one debuting a year later.

It just so happens that the A90 supra low-power option is turbocharged as well. Think of it as the equivalent of the SZ in A80 in terms of heirachy.

Keeping in mind this is the model lapping the ring around 7:40 and ~10 faster than the Z4 at Spa.... imagine what the high output model could do....

That would be perfect but as we know.. everyone else make fun cars but Toyota never followed that.. they stick to washing machines, sewing machines, toasters and refrigerators. Then they’ll try to work with GE to make a sporty oven and called it ‘Supra’

unconfirmed, the impression i got was the first/low output spec would be 340-380hp

The higher output would be the GRMN model - with 400+ (who knows how much) hp and even less weight (in the 1200kg range)

but would be later than initial release and more expensive.

5 Supras currently
The M4 and M3 both have the S58

More likely Bosch these days ;)

Though the last one they made with Fuji Heavy Industries was quite fun.

Idk if this should go on another thread but, iyo how well do you think the MKV stacks up against the other cars in Le Mans?

I don't really like its chances. They're all 488s, Vantages, Porsches, M6s, M8s, the like. But if it's only the looks, and it does actually have a Toyota engine and everything...
LFA GT race car, anyone?
