Ok I have the dreaded locked 07/20 Ecu no one can tune it ecu build date literally 20-07-02...... So given the stock ECU will the stock ecu compensate appropriately if I add a catted DP and intake or will I be leaning out the motor like the 90s? Yes I get it I won’t be maxing out my gains with out a tune. The question is simple how smart is the ecu?

No ECU is smart enough to adjust

Ran exhaust, intake & DP (catted) for around 4 months with no issues

Slight increase in power too

Dyno: before/after catless DP on stock tune
Looks like catless is good for ~20whp without tune

No threat of it leaning out, it's smart enough.

Could always look at JB4 too until someone cracks this new ecu security.
Yeah I don’t see this car having problems commanding stock fuel trims/EGT/AFRs with simple Bolt on’s but thought I’d ask. I think I can Wait for ECUtech unlock but if I see some good Black Friday deals I’ll get me some new parts!!

Running a downpipe is not a problem. You will get a CEL but thats about it. you can put any intake you want on the car. theres no MAF, so it will be fine after a some miles of adaption.

Was thinking about running the CG 5” catted DP until this ecu can be tuned then do a tune comparison for CG to cattles. I’m curious to see how well the 5” will flow vs open. 91 and ~e50. I only expect to see a real difference with the E over 91. What do you think?

I am running the CG catted dp and E50 tune. Attached is a chart showing the flow rates of the various Gesi cats in terms of horsepower supported. Note that the 5 inch cat used on the CG Precision dp is rated up to 1000 hp while the 4 inch models that the other manufacturers use are good up to 500 hp.

So the CG Precision does use a GESi catalytic converter? I couldn't confirm this when I was doing research on this catted downpipe and assumed it was an off-the-shelf 5" cat. If so, that's great news.

CG does use Gesi Gen2 epa-approved cat. You can tell there is a significant reduction in restriction by how much louder the exhaust is. The first time I started it I was shocked.
