Yeah they're not very knowledgeable at all on the car parts. I rang them up and told them what I had done, air intake, OPF back exhaust and different alloy wheels.

When the paperwork is updated, it now shows:

I'm expecting more fun when I ring up in an few months to declare a new intercooler to my Yaris...

There are some companies that are better with modifications, for example I was with Green Light (https://www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk/modified-car-insurance) when I had my WRX STI.

But they only insure cars worth upto 30k, so I came back to Direct Line for my Supra who were already insuring my home and Civic. They're ok for a few bolt-ons, but anything more you'd want a specialist I think.
Cool, thanks for sharing mate ?that's the first time I see how it looks on paper, and actually, relatively speaking, impressed with that detail.

Interestingly, I just tried asking them again about adding my Dinan intake and they tell me I would need to cancel the policy.

I am assuming my change is “induction kit” and not just air filter ?

That's worrying, with my renewal coming up later in the year. I might have to start looking elsewhere.

Thanks for this, https://www.keithmichaels.co.uk/modified-car-insurance/ looks like it's worth considering for sure.

So to update, I had some modifications added to my Yaris and I rang Directline to declare them. They have now said they won't renew it with modifications.

The person on the phone advised that they've recently changed their system and so anything with modifications is likely to be declined for future insurance with them.

My Supra is still ok as they said as long as was insured with them previously and no further changes are made then it can carry on being with them. My Yaris, with the prior mods would've been fine with them, but I since I called and wanted to add more, then they cannot renew it :(

So I'm on the hunt for another insurer, I've spent 2 days trying to get a quote from Keith Michaels, but they've not been very helpful, but I've got a few others to try (Adrian Flux, Pace Ward)

Having just bought an ex-demo 3.0 GR Pro, the Admiral insurance was quoted ÂŁ850 without speeding points, then ÂŁ1000 after I'd declared my 3pts from 2.5 years ago. That's compared to ÂŁ400 for my 30AE MX-5. I'm late 50's. I'd only expected ~50% increase ... not double!

I found Adrian Flux to be great for my un-modified I30N Performance but the moment i bought the supra they wouldn't touch me with a barge pole. They said it was too high value without an aftermarket tracker and said the only company that would go for it under their umbrella charged ÂŁ3000!

I had an accident (no fault) in the I30N while with them and they dealt with it really well so if they work for you i would recommend them despite having to leave them.

I just insured my Supra for another year with ClassicLine insurance.

- they don't care about NCb
- they don't care about any mods.
- I have 3 points on my license.
- Insurance includes 6 trackdays per year at cost of ÂŁ50 extra each (with cars like Lotus it's free).
- limit 5000 miles a year.

I paid ÂŁ770.

If your supra is your second car, this might be a good solution. Especially if you are thinking to take it for a trackday at least once. One-time insurance normally would cost around 400-500 pounds.

Ps. A side note, i just checked insurance on Tesla with me as main driver and Admiral quoted me 3700 ? I'm happy it's my wife's car and she is dealing with that, but last year she paid something like 1200. She just told me she will buy a Porsche if next year on renewal they will quote her over 2k ?

OK confession I’m old with a clean licence / no accidents but could not find reasonable insurance that did not require a “Tracker” to be fitted (beware of the small print re Trackers as they will not cover theft) so I insured via Toyota insurance (£639) vs my Audi Q5 (£320) and my TVR Tuscan that was only £220 ….. that’s for 5000 miles annually…… so intriguing how you guys are paying so much lower, I’m out in Essex with the car garaged securely

I wish my insurance was as cheap as yours! I didn't know Toyota did insurance, how are they with modifications?

I've now moved from Direct Line (ÂŁ550 last year, quoted ÂŁ630 this year) to Adrian Flux for ÂŁ617 for the year.

41 yrs old, 9+ years no claims, garaged, modifications declared with 4k miles a year.

That's compared to the Yaris, which is over ÂŁ800 with Adrian Flux, only difference being that's got 7 years NCD.
