Vanos solenoid replacement

Has anyone replaced their Vanos solenoids, specifically the exhaust side, on their b58 and how was it? I know it’s possible without needing to pivot the motor or anything but would love some feedback. I can’t imagine I’m the first person doing this. Any B58 would be helpful if someone has a link to a good video

I believe it is the actuator, I’m not sure why they don’t call them the same thing since they are based on one video I’ve found. Small black circular piece

It’s actually incredibly easy haha once I removed the windshield wiper surround it’s a clear shot straight to the vanos actuator and they spin and come out

I’m actually going to change out mine soon, I just got the parts from toyota. A vanos solenoid and 2 bolts. One for exhaust and one for intake. What were the part numbers you used for the bolt assemblies?

Wow, VANOS going out already?!

Mine appears to have been an oil being used that was too thick. I changed back to 0w20 and drained the thick ass shit out and the code went away.

Theres an intake actuator and an exhaust actuator. They are interchangeable. Is it just the exhaust camshaft clamped code you’re throwing or which one?

I’m getting the code for
13070C - VANOS, exhaust, cold start: not controllable
But I got 2 bolts and one actuator ordered from toyota.

Is it throwing an actual visible CEL or just if you read codes using a reader?
