Vortex Generators useful or nah?

I've just been reading about vortex generators. Are they of value, either without or with a wing? Does the boundary layer on the Supra separate as it passes over the hatch at highway or higher speeds? Or would they just increase drag without decreasing lift?

If useful, then the question is where to put them. From what I've watched, installing them a bit down the rear window is actually more effective than putting them right above the window.

Also, how many? I'm looking at the ones from Verus.

I've never seen a Supra with them. Perhaps that answers my question, but I'm still interested.
