Weird welds? Epoxy?

Hi All,

Just noticed today some strange hard epoxy looking stuff in the engine bay. It's in several places and looks like it was done before the car was painted. I'm sure this is normal but it just looks so sloppy. I just wanted to check, you all have the same thing? I included just one photo but it's also near the hinges for the hood.

Normal.

It's seam sealer, put over all overlaps and welds to seal from water. Exists on every car, all applied in different methods. Totally normal though!
