That’s a crazy blind spot. I guess it is what it is.Yeah, it is a little odd? Weird design for sure

This car is becoming more and more of a disaster. That’s a crazy blind spot. I guess it is what it is.
I understand why it is the way it is, I am just saying it’s a bad design. Poor visibility is a result of bad design, not style. While I understand that you are personally ok with the risk involved, i’m Sure the majority might feel differently. Look up some cars in this class and see how much thought went into the rear windshields. This has got to be one of the smallest ones. Let’s not add a point to the A90 for this, can we all agree on this? Have you ever gave a positive feedback for lack of visibility? There is no 'frame' on the outside of the glass - see the threads that show the hatch open. It's like a frameless door - but the hatch
So therefore, under all that plastic is the structural components for the hatch/roof/chassis
Given the focus for torsional rigidity, (and the fact that having the glass as small as the actual window aperture would have looked like shit) I guess that's why there's such a blind spot - it's taken up with structural members.
Having poked around the Gr concept (which was 100% based on the production chassis stampings) you can see this is why rear vision is compromised (the chassis design has provisions for a roll-cage built in - see the 'GR concept comes down under' thread for more information)
That said, the A80 had pretty terrible rearward vision, (A60 and A70 not so bad)... and with how much better 2018 side mirrors are... I'd rather have a stiffer, better looking car and compromise on rearward vision - Personal opinion of course.
Agreed on blind spots, not direct rearward visibility. Just imagine how much worse the A90 will be.That said, the A80 had pretty terrible rearward vision.
Y’all think the A80 was/is terrible in this aspect? I’ve been driving one for about 20years and I feel it was perfectly designed with the spoiler completely not in the line of vision etc.Agreed! While I love my A80 I always hated that part about it. Just imagine how much worse the A90 will be.
I’m specifically talking about the blind spots, straight rearward visibility is fine, never had any issues with that. You got to admit the blind spots suck though.Y’all think the A80 was/is terrible in this aspect? Evo 8/9 had the spoiler running right through the mildly of your line of vision
Well.. with the little quarter glass giving you a little bit of view out back.... if you drive any modern sports car.. GenV Vipers, Z06s, Shelbys, R8s etc.. they all have the same issue that’s even a bit worse.I’m specifically talking about the blind spots, straight rearward visibility is fine, never had any issues with that. You want to see/feel the benefits of having shit rear vision? Lol, ok, to each their own. It’s like saying I want to see the benefit of not having a seatbelt. You can still have what you want out of a car without having to sacrifice safety. Porsche did it, in fact pretty much all other cars do a much better job at it. Why give Toyota a pass? It’s just strange, is all.I'm running the trd wing so that affects it... Also the recaros are on lowest rails available and my rear window is tinted...
But I'm used to it so doesn't bother me, and wouldn't change it for a second
Certainly wouldn't give positive feedback on shit visibility, but would give positive points for a more dynamic chassis. If that meant a reducing in rear glass... Well, then I am ok with it, but again it's just opinion. If the car sucks to drive and sucks to see out of, well, that's a whole different kettle of fish. I want to see/feel the benefits of having shit rear vision
The A60 has virtually no blind spots, but furthermore... I sure as shit would dislike being in a crash in one ... But then, one could argue, with reduced visibility, risk of said crash increases....
Anyway mental rant over, carry on fine people
True and that’s why I learned to live with it but thinking about possibly getting into an A90 with even worse visibility doesn’t sound fun or even an option for me. I guess i’ll Have to see after I test drive it.Well.. with the little quarter glass giving you a little bit of view out back.... if you drive any modern sports car.. I was just complaining how gaudy and tacky that panel around the rear windshield looks and that just looks like a panel you can expect in like a one of project kit car or something. Not a mainstream model.
