hey everyone, my first winter with the mk5 supra is approaching and I will most likely be driving it in snowy conditions, what's the best set of tire setup that I can throw onto the OEM rims? (will use OEM rims as dedicated winters going forward)

I didn't find any winter tire options that supported the exact specs as OEM tires, so I am considering the following
  1. square 255/35R19
  2. 235/40R19 + 255/40R19
  3. 255/35R19 + 255/40R19
  4. 245/35R19 + 265/35R19 (only available with Michelin Pilot Alpin 4)

For the first few setups the options are
  1. Blizzak LM005
  2. Michelin X-Ice Snow
  3. Continental Vikingcontact7
  4. Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3

Anyone have experience with any of the following setups? Were there any issues with rim/tire sizing? and how was the winter performance in light snow / icy areas?

It seems like you're set on using the OEM wheels as winter wheels, but you may want to consider sizing down to get a little more sidewall on there. This is my set up.

I want to buy a nice set of summer rims and didn't want to waste the oem ones. But maybe the cost savings on getting smaller narrower tires will make up for the savings on buying 1 less set of rims

And wow your winter setup looks awesome, do you have a link to those rims? what's the finish and specs on them? and are all 4 tires 235/45/18?

Yeah 235/45/18 all around

Hopefully the link brings you to the spec for our car.

hm it didn't, but when I entered the car information it recommended 18x9 ET29, is this he spec you ran for all 4? and fitment is good without any spacers?
Yeah thats exactly what I did. Just entered my car info and went with what they recommended. Yes that size all around and they fit perfectly with no spacers.

Also that tire size (235/45) was as close as I could get to the diameter of the stock tires so it wouldn't noticable throw off the speedo.

This is the closest you're gonna get to factory size. I'm considering these as I had them on my 19 Miata and they were good. The only way to get it to show up is to chose 255/35/19 and click on the size to get the 275/35/19. It will not show up for some reason if you try to for the 4 tire combo.

yeah these tires have oem size, but I've been told 275 is way too wide for snow usage and will likely float on the snow rather than cut in, that's why I mostly considered sizing down. Also didn't find many reviews on the wintrac pros

I don't think it's gonna matter when it gets to that point. You're talking about when it's snowing heavy at 5" or more. The car won't go anywhere since it's so low to the ground. Our cars can only go out when it's light snow, anything more and we're stuck.

that's a pretty good point as well, gonna end up going with wintrac pro using oem sizing tires front and rear on the oem wheels. saved some money and will avoid deep snow
