Sometimes it feels like I am driving two different cars. In normal mode when I press the pedal all the way down, I get a huge burst of power that pushes you back in your seat like you are driving a 60k sports car and other times I do the same thing and it feels like its half the power and acts sluggish. I don't understand the inconsistency in power output. Totally stock A91 with just over 1200 miles on it.

Since they replaced the ECM its been fine. When i was having this problem it happened both in sport mode and normal mode. To understand what was happening with my car you would have to start from the beginning of my thread. Started happening only on cold starts then progressed to all starts.
I tried a cold start rev this morning and didn't have any issues, but I'm also not in the habit of revving the engine as soon as I start it; I usually avoid it. I think I'll avoid it even more now if there's a chance this issue could come back or get worse like yours did. I'm glad you posted about it with video.

I'll take a crack at this one.

My hunch says turbo lag considering you have A91 the compression ratio is much lower compared to A90. Having driven an older turbo with similar compression ratio to A91, I can vouch for the lag and having to always be in the >3k rpm threshold to get on it. I can also speculate heatsoak and ecu retarding the timing. Are you driving in hot weather?

Update:

So far its been a week and no problems so far. Toyota got back to me and offered me the platinum warranty 7y 100k miles for free.
Wow that’s freaking awesome. Sucks to be without the car for a while. But Toyota definitely stepped up to make it right. They’re only obligated to fix the car, but offering the warranty for free is definitely great customer service.

The "lag" on the 2021's is exactly 200 rpm  which you don't notice.
The lag you're talking about, and having to be in the 3k+ rpm range, is because that car had a single scroll turbo. And mk5 Supra's have a twin scroll turbo. Has nothing to do with the compression ratio.

Glad you got it fixed. Other than revving while at idle in park, was there any other issues while driving it?
Windshield wiper twitching was the first issue.

The 2021 turbo kicks in later in the rpm range then the 2020.

^^^^ I don't think there is any lag on either years. lol
You're right, there isn't. Peak torque in the Supra is at 1600 rpm, while an NA engine like in the Toyota 86 has peak torque in the 6000 rpm range. That's lag lol.

Yeah I realised twin scroll shouldn't have lag but its an odd one.
Unusual to use the word sluggish on an A91.
Could be electrical, odd to say the least.

It doesn't kick in later, it reaches peak torque later. 200 whole rpm. You can't tell the difference between the 2. 200 rpm in 1st gear is like 0.01 seconds lol. And after that you're always in the power band. So it's a non issue.
