As the title suggests, do all the 2021 premiums come with DRCC? Also what's the extent of the DRCC? Will it steer and apply brakes for me? And last but not least, do I need to configure it in the system to actually work?

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

What does it say on your window sticker?...Do you have the "Driver's Assistance package?"

Pretty sure you have it if you have a premium. It won't steer but it will slow the vehicle down if the vehicle in front slows down (or in most cases, someone merges into the space since its there, it will aggressively slow down). You can alter the distance from the detected vehicle using the left steering wheel buttons after engaging the CC.

TBH for places like San Fran and in my case Houston, it's a major pain in the ass. I wish there was a way to disable it but leave basic cruise control. If we leave a car length gap someone is going to take it and it throws it into a panic. Even at the shortest distance configuration, it wants 4-5 car lengths.

Hoping someone chimes in here with alternative info I may have missed from the manual..

How's just having CC help? I'm curious. You'd have to use the brakes to slow down which would disengage the CC in any vehicle...

Just years of habitually using it in close proximity traffic that what the sensors consider requiring a brake generally don't, just that it needs an input (like a lane change or brief disengage without over-slowing the car and causing a concertina effect...which is traffic in a nutshell). It'd be one thing if it was just that, but it slows the vehicle down aggressively if someone cuts the distance in half...which then slows the car down, which then opens it up to more people cutting in...which is all the time here on 610/I-10

Hard to explain. Then again, my wife calls my lane changes "near accidents." Probably a whole new thread called silly driving styles :D I know I'm not the only one with this gripe against DRCC, but definitely in the minority.

Oh yeah, I'm totally with you on the aggressive slowing.
I don't think only CC will give you what you want. A closer distance setting would, but I don't have a clue if it can be programmed. I'd be interested as well.

The auto distance following can be turned off and have normal CC by adjusting the distance to the minimum and then just hold the bottom button down until it turns off. You'll get a chime and a new symbol on the dash for verification. Tap it again to turn it back on. In fact I think you can do this from whatever distance you have set in auto.

It is possible to disable it. I forgot how to but search in this forum.

only brake and gas is applied. brake will be applied to the point to complete stop if it need to. however, don't set to max speed too high. for example, on highway, if you set your max speed to be 120 mph and car in front of you goes 65 mph, it is fine. but soon as the car in front of you moves over and you don't have any other car in front of you, car will accelerate to 120 mph, possibly getting you ticket or worse. - this is all hypothetical and not from my experience. there are other situations it may not work as intended. So, although I do love the system and I absolutely use it on long trip, I do use it with caution and alert.

one of my experience, I was on pedal about 10 minutes altogether in 2 hour trip. So it is very convenient.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was hoping it was something a long the lines of it being able to steer for you as well in addition to controlling the speed (basically what the Tesla autopilot is). That would've been awesome. haha.
