That's my point. Of that 33% how many report an issue that don't have one?
How many of that 33% lost a quart of oil under 1500 miles? I bet a lot less.
doesn’t matter. It’s still something worth reporting at any percentage. If toyota is replacing engines due to this, it shouldn’t be downplayed. I don’t care how any one owner handles this, I’m interested in how toyota does

Well it matters in the way that a certain amount is expected and indicates a healthy proper functioning engine, and below that 1500 mile threshold, it isn't. Someone crying about having to add a quart every 3000 miles, has nothing to cry about. And they might tick that "I have a problem" box, even though they don't.
From what I'm reading a lot now on Facebook, Toyota will do an oil change, and tell customers to drive a 1000 miles and then see where the level is at and go from there.

At 2644 miles of hard driving i had to add a quart of oil because the light came on.

Now i am at 3800, and i decided to use the oil checker and it is close to minimum again.
Is My Engine Toast? Do i bring it to the dealer now? Should i take my exhaust and intake off first?
probably helpful to other owners and toyota themselves to gather more data (if they're still looking for it). who knows, they may recommend a heavier oil in the future as a result?

It could be the higher boost. My personal opinion is that weak break-ins are bad, the only reason they're "recommended" by the manufacturer is because their legal and PR team can't tell you to do otherwise. I've literally never spoken to an engine builder, ever, who recommended a weak break-in. The reason why it's worse on the 2021 is because the drop in compression makes a weak break-in even worse. It might have been good enough on the 2020, but it isn't on the 2021.

The recent poll that was posted showed that an overwhelming majority of the 2021s with high oil consumption did a weak break-in, while with the exception of one person, nobody who did a hard break-in showed any consumption problems. That one exception could just be excess blowby as you mentioned.

Unfortunately you are wrong, as I had a hard break in and i am having the oil consumption issues.

Miles between adding oil?
2644 miles oil light came on so i added a quart. Currently at 3800 and i did an oil check, its near minimum but not at it yet so i have not added oil yet. I expect it will be low by 4000-4200

Yeah that's right at the limit. Will be interesting to see at what mileage it triggers.

Can't talk about BMW engines, but FRS/86 spring and other issues started just like this forum complaints before Toyota/Subaru acknowledged and did something about it..

Key is to report things properly without hearsay on the forums and at the service center... meaning things need to be reported and made record of and not "I saw 10 people on Facebook".
One could start collecting screenshots, names, nicknames, etc. to make a case...

I'm not 2021, but I'll report my story for the record if it helps identify and compare with 2021's...

Launch Edition 2020 model
Production date: April 29, 2019
Arrived at dealer: July 26, 2019
Took possession: July 30, 2019

No low oil reported by the car, ever.
No major dips in the oil check, ever.
I only got regular maintenance change oil warning message when the time came not per mileage but per 12months..

Did my first oil change super late on March 23, 2021 at 3500 miles (wasn't using the car as much due to covid and winter, etc. yeah blame my ignorance)
No particulates that I could see with my eyes. I haven't sent to Blackstone
Changed with Toyota GR Supra OEM Oil 0W-20 SN C5
Waited overnight for the oil to drain and put exactly 6.5 and indicator is at max.

On the day of taking possession, I had the intention of driving more carefully, but went there with a friend who has a 911 and on the way a 6.50i shown some interest, so I screwed the pooch on the first day :D well wasn't redlining...
After that I can't say that I've been riding it hard like I did on the 86. Just some highspeed driving.
Got the BootMod3 off-the-shelf tune stage 1 since November 2019.
No burnouts or anything of the sort...
No issues of any kind...

FRS/86:
For the record, I drove the 2012 built, manual transmission 86 thru Michigan snow for the past 9 years, tracked, autocrossed, redlined, burnout, drifted, etc. was initially hoping to mod it but never got around to it, well mostly because of my hesitance to introduce TC or SC issues... only thing is short shifter and cold air intake some interior/exterior cosmetic, etc...
Did all maintenance at service dealer. Did the spring valve recall. Still kicking no issues... To be honest I wasn't overly paranoid with the oil. I did regular checks with the dipstick and was diligent with maintenance schedule.

I get that with a turbo things are different and you've to treat it accordingly, but my expectation from such a new vehicle in this day and age is not having to worry about the oil every 2 seconds.
Consumption may be expected based on your driving style, but many folks I would guess are coming from other brands that they never really had to be concerned about oil levels unless it was a RX7/8... or they added bunch of mods to it.. Like, I never heard Evo's and WRX's drinking oil.
I don't have too much experience with BMW vehicles. Drove them many times, rental, etc. never owned one. All I heard was vanos, dct and electrical issues... So, I think it is understandable that people are freaking out about consumption levels especially if they're taking it easy....

Perhaps more time on Bimmer forums needs to be spent to understand B58.. and same initiative perhaps needs to be done there to understand if Z4's are having the issue among other B58's... considering not many drive their z4's hard..

my 2 cents..

BMW says a quart for every 1500 miles is normal.
Seriously? Everyone on this forum makes it seem like a quart every 1500 miles is horrible and the car has engine issues. This car is driven extremely hard every time it drives for context.

That's why you shouldn't listen to people on a forum lol. Me included. Read the manual, make up your mind. It's all in there. People on a forum all have assholes and opinions. Doesn't matter what we say, it matters what BMW says. I'll go by their engineering, not by someone saying how using x quart of oil within y miles is nonsense while they've never even changed their own oil, etc.

I was about to get all my mods uninstalled and take it in to the dealer... I guess ill wait until i see if the car has any actual problems or keeps consuming oil at this rate forever. I refuse to use heavier oil like some recommend because i'd prefer to keep my warranty intact. Hence why my only real mods are intake and exhaust.

An intake could be considered a claim denying mod since it alters the air coming in and so on. Not everyone will, but some. I do use heavier oil because it's what the pukes at EPA want for mileage ratings, rather than engine protection.
