Max probably would've had the fastest time in FP1 but for the last sector on his fastest lap, but Red Bull seemed a bit off the pace in FP2 but obviously a lot of unknowns.

That was a great qualifying event. The top three are so close together.
Also, Ocon came out of nowhere. I'm excited for tomorrow.

Alpine has been on-pace since last race. Alonso cannot be over-looked as well not just Ocon. they are becoming formidable contender for 3rd constructor along with Ferrari and McLaren. Also, good to see Danny Ric getting hang of the car as well. Lando will have handful this week.

Let's hope Max can jump Hamilton off the line tomorrow. Can't wait. Hopefully Perez can get into the mix too. An RBR 1-2 would do nicely.

Fantastic race. I was hoping Max would be able to hold off Lewis, but there was just so much pace in that Merc.

I don't think pitting Max would have made a difference in result. The Merc was easier on the tires and they were switching to mediums.

Red Bull would have had to switch to soft tires, which would have given out quicker and probably not made it to the end. It did, however allow Max the fastest lap extra point, so I think they made the right call during the race.

That being said, the real strategy mistake was not bringing an extra set of medium tires to the race like Mercedes did.

That would have given Red Bull a stronger case for pitting Max after Lewis.

They knew Max wasn't going to make it, so they could've at least tried. They were far enough along in the race that with half a fuel load the soft would've lasted.

On a close battle like this, RB needs the other car to support max. nevertheless, MB did fantastic job saving a set of medium tires and executing it on right time.

Ferrari also did awesome job as well as Alpine. despite McLaren lagging, Ricardo pulled it quite well. finally, not bad for russell as well. on a negative note, Mazepin need to improve his skill as back marker... He is worse than all of my HPDE 1 students.

Fair enough. I don't have enough experience to know for sure, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Bad strategy call by RBR. They should've pulled Max in the lap after Lewis did.
Yea, I think got Red Bull got played. At first I thought Mercedes goofed by letting Lewis stay out another 4-5 laps after Max pitted. But as I recall, Red Bull did not have a fresh 2nd set of Mediums, so when Lewis put the second time, I don’t think there was much Red Bull could do, since the Softs would not have made it to the end at that point (I think).
