In SoCal Los Angeles area best I could find is 2500 off msrp on a 3.0 premium.

there is 33 miles on it, should I be concerned about test drives ?

Canā€™t do anything about the test drives. You just have to have faith and take comfort in the warranty. Mine had 15 miles on it. 5 of which were me.

The price seems OK for your specific market. Iā€™d you like the car, Iā€™d go with it.

You are honestly going to receive 900 different answers on this. Various schools of thought are one/many of the following:

1. There is a massive issue and Toyota needs to issue a recall.
2. There is an issue, but it's only affecting some cars.
3. Break in period - Drive it like you stole it is the only way to prevent this issue.
4. Break in period - Drive it like you're driving Ms. Daisy will prevent this issue.
5. 0W20 oil is watery trash and should be replaced immediately with a thicker weight.
6. The sensor/software isn't working properly and some folks are seeing various levels each test.
7. Folks tuning/tracking and not understanding this engine will use oil under load (within spec).
8. There is no issue. Welcome to BMW engines.

I'm sure this is quite a bit more but that about covers the "basic" replies.

Summary: There is no simple answer. An incredibly small number of folks have had engines replaced. Some have had the low engine light, gone in and started a case with Toyota. The rest have just driven the car and been fine. Remember, you are under warranty and will be covered as long as you don't do anything super silly to the car.

Seems decent for your market. I wouldn't worry about the miles, it's an auto trans so it's not like someone was slaming gears and going past red line in a manual.

If your willing to road trip the dealer I got mine from has a black 3.0 premium with driver assist package. From msrp I got them down to $52500 plus doc fee. Sioux City Iowa is willing to deal. I messaged them when I was ready and flat out said this is what they are being advertised for and said this is what id pay and they agreed to it.

It's likely blown out of proportion. If you read the owners manual they mention the fact that some engines will burn more oil during the first 10K miles. For a variety of reasons, some of them mechanical and some of them environmental. I see people with modified Supras that drive the piss out of them and then complain about having to add 1/2 quart of oil in the first 4K miles. The reality is that this is well within spec and not an issue.

Now the people burning excessive oil that is outside spec, well that is the issue and they likely will get their engine replaced or even a buyback if they pursue it. I believe those situations are few and far between though.

Personally, if you are someone who drives their car aggressively/hard I think going 10K miles between oil changes (especially 0-20 weight oil) is not something I would do. I would change it around every 5K miles or every 6 months. Whichever comes first.

The dealer I bought my Supra from offered to let me drive one of there supra's for 15 to 20 miles. The one I purchased had 4 miles on it and I paid 9.5% less than MSRP.
