So this is after cleaning it?! Have you done any Google searches to see if maybe it's just an issue with those tips? Man if it's tarnishing the tips that's bad.
Yes the tips are clean..the brown/burnt look is not dirt..
This is the second borla exhaust...
The Borla rep that I've been in contact with said he personally has not seen the issue on the carbon fiber tips..

I mean that could be possible. It's just odd that he said the car also has an excessive amount of exhaust soot on the tips all the time.
Car has less the 200 miles since my last wash and the exhaust pipes are completely black with soot...
Toyota has pictures and ask that I don't wash the tips for the next 1000 miles or so...

Would you share some pics here? So far I’ve found my exhaust tips to be spotless, but I’m wondering if I have low standards!! ?

You can see in the pics how black the exhaust pipes are..
This is with about a 170 miles since the last time I washed them..
You can see in the 1 pic where I rub my finger on it...the soot doesn't feel dry...almost oily...
Maybe it's normal n I'm just noticing now because my cars seems to be drinking oil...I don't know?

You can see the discoloration in the carbon fiber...
It brown vs the grayish color its suppose to be...
The Borla name was white now it's brown?
This is the second set that this has happened to...
This set has about 1500 miles on them...
I haven't found a lot complaints about this issue?
Seems the exhaust is getting pretty damn hot in order to cause this?

Hey Guys, can someone rate my oil consumtion please?
Ich bought my Supra in July 2020 and got it delivered in October 2020.

0-2600 km / 0-1615 miles - max oil status.
at 2600 km / at 1615 miles - did my first oil change at toyota, not by myself.
at 12260 km / at 7618 miles - got my massage today to add 1 liter / 1 quart of oil.

So i got my message after 9660 km / 6003 miles.
What do you guys think? Should I worry about that course?

At Toyota today...
Telling me I need to have an appointment for them to document any issues...what BS...

Anyways they ran Diagnostics and topped me up...

The service manager and the supra tech both told me Toyota knows it's an issue...
Dealership can't do anything without corporate permission...

I have a feeling this is gonna be a long road...but I'll be as patient as need be...

Being self employed this takes a lot of hours out of my day...think I can bill for my time??...

Steve

Edit...
The tech asked me not to wash the muffler tips(which have never had oil on them) and to not drive the car in sport mode?
Ok..I get rpms are higher but the higher rpms causing the car to drink oil like water?

I'll do what he asked because I understand it part of the troubleshooting process...

Can I just say...this car in normal mode takes alot of throttle to get going...
sport mode is more than higher rpms.

I would say you are ok. 6k miles is alot of driving before losing one quart. Take it to the dealer for the quart though so it's on record.

The manual says anything under 1500 for 1 quart is bad. Imo I find that consumption a little to much, but it's what bmw says is ok. I would be ok with anything over 3k before losing a quart. There has been a few people on this forum who got looked into even though they were closer to 2k before losing a quart.

That sounds very reasonable. You didn’t mention if you’re stock or tuned etc, also what your driving style is.

If you’re at least stock, your engine oil consumption sounds absolutely normal. If you’re not stock, think you’re doing better than normal!

I understand it changes ecu mapping but I shouldn't be going through a quart of oil every 7-900 miles because I use it..

Steve
well it depends, is it increasing the blowby?
no one has direct answers as to what is going on. But your original statement was definitely missing some facts as it was not just rpm. As far as what you are entitled to happening because you use it? I dont know, its a stupid statement.

i just drove 700 miles straight and am still at max line having not added oil since i changed the oil 10 months and 2000 miles ago

900 miles to a top up does sound excessive, even if using sport mode on the street and esp if car is mostly stock.

Hope your dealer can figure out what’s going on. I didnt realize you have an aftermarket exhaust, may not be much of a reference but my stock exhaust tips are definitely not showing any signs of discoloration, excessive soot, or oily buildup.

After clocking about 3300km since the 1000km oil change at dealer, my oil indicator is showing a consistent halfway reading. I do note I’ve been hitting Sport Indiv/+ and manual mode a lot more after crossing the 2000km break in threshold.
