Not Special? compare to who? This is a relative term. I think Max is as special as Hamilton as Schumacher as Nicky Lauder & ETC. If you compare amongst all top drivers, on their level, nothing special, of course. but compare to you or me as a racer? they are so special that even comparing is an insult to them. So to saying it he is not special bluntly without reference does not state fact.
Obviously in relation to his 19 colleagues on the grid. Didn't think that was that hard of a concept to grasp lol.

Lewis Hamilton is a great driver compared to most racing drivers; however, compared to F1 racing drivers I would say he is slightly above average with his ability in the wet and his ability to look after the tires.

This was highlighted when Russell took his car for a race, and completely dominated the race. Hell, he embarrassed Valtteri. If not for the team screwing up his race, he would have won it.

George stepped into a brand new car, with new buttons, and a seat that didn't fit him properly, and was able to embarrass a Mercedes veteran. George is a great driver, but he isn't that great. The car was clearly the deciding factor in that race.

All of this serves to prove that Lewis is "nothing special" in terms of F1 racing drivers. George Russell proved what every Lewis Hamilton "hater" suspected...that it was the car all along.

Now that Lewis doesn't have a car that completely dominates the rest of the field, it's becoming even more obvious. Even Lewis admits that the car doesn't have the pace to compete with the Red Bulls.

Let me state that again: Lewis just stated his car doesn't have the pace to compete.

I thought he was a Super Fantastical 7-time champion F1 Driver who could beat anyone in a similar car, etc, etc.

No.

Lewis is a slightly above average F1 driver, who has historically been in a completely dominant car. Now that advantage has been taken away from him thanks to the wonderful engineers at Honda.

Red Bull has the full package. A fantastic driver, and a fantastic car. This driver's championship is done. Mercedes lost the minute they stopped development for this year's car, taking away the only thing Lewis had going for him.

Now then, let's all collectively move the fuck on with better and more meaningful conversation.

Should Seb have gotten such a harsh penalty?
Do Ferrari have the pace to do as well or better this weekend compared to last?
Will we see Alonso or Daniel storm the field?
Will it rain and give Lewis a fighting chance?

All questions I have going into tomorrow's race. I grow tired of the Lewis talent debate.

It wasn't Seb's "fault" but it wasn't right either. They shouldn't have been going that slow. But at the same time he's trying to build a gap for himself.

Ric is just going from bad to worse. I can see him being replaced by Gasly before long. I think he's damaged his career beyond repair. And he's burned bridges along the way. Top teams won't touch him after this, and midfield teams have better options. He'll sit out his contract if he's lucky, and he's out.

Rain might elevate Lewis to 3rd, but nothing more. Max is as good as Lewis, if not better in the rain. As shown in Imola this year, and his monster race in Brazil (2018 I believe) the question is if Lando can hold on to a podium.

Ferrari are in a great position. If I were them, with tire choice, I'd start them on the hard compound, and go as far as possible and do a 1 stop race.

Yeah, I think even Seb was saying the same thing.
Not much he could have done, but in the end he was the one in the way.

I think a couple of cars in front of Seb should have also gotten a penalty.
Anyone who slowed in that last bit of track should have gotten a penalty.

Agreed. But they all do it. It comes with the format. The track is fastest at the end, so they all go out as late as possible to do their final run.

Toto officially confirmed that both George and Valtteri are being evaluated for who will be Lewis' teammate next season.

My money is on George unless Valtteri can step his game up considerably.

Great race, but the penalties were ridiculous.

Sucks for Vettel there at the end.

Valtteri making a strong case for himself this race. He will more races like that, I feel.

Perez and Leclerc, terrible form. They could learn a thing or two from Alonso about staying on the track.

It was quite an entertaining race that’s for sure. Yeah Perez was driving like an idiot. Nice too see Danny Ric have a good race, hopefully there’s more to come.

Penalties were correct. Rules state if a car is alongside, they should be given a car's width of space. In all 3 cases the cars on the inside didn't do that.

Fantastic to watch though.

It depends. If Lewis gets his way Bottas will stay. He doesn't want Russell next to him attacking him. You saw how surprised he was when Bottas came close, he doesn't expect his teammate to be allowed by. The only reason it was allowed today, was because Norris was right there and they wanted to secure P2.

re-stating what I said already...

I'm way more mature than that.

congrats to Max, praises to Lando for being on podium again! great drive even after the penalty. And great effort from George trying to fight off Alonso. Overall, interesting race and hope to see more action in next race.

as for penalty, once they gave 5 sec penalty to Lando, penalties had to be given out to all to keep consistency. Perhaps not giving penalty to Lando may have created harder racing? but then would've created whole bunch of Lando hater from RB fans.

You need to stop being so petty. Guess you didn't see the 100+ thousand Dutch fans cheering for Lando all weekend?? All RB fans.

That rule is very flawed though, basically saying if there’s a car beside you give up your place. They need to let them actually do some wheel to wheel racing

I agree completely. But that's the way it is. I'd like to see more of this kind of racing too. Risk vs reward.
