More than anything, I personally believe that the new NSX’s failure point was it’s exterior design....it’s ugly.

You are saying nonsense now. Of course it is only my opinion, but the new NSX is the best looking mid-rear engine supercar ever made. The new Tesla Roadster might be even better, but it is not really mid-engine being electric.


The NSX 'failure' point, only partly Honda's fault, it the badge. But this is not only valid for Honda's NSX, but also Nissan's GT-R that you like so much and their Z car. Today sportscars are not what they were, today they are badges on wheel. If the car does not have a German badge or a Ferrari badge, it will no sell. Corvette and Mustang are a different story, and they only sell in NA. Elsewhere in the world, nobody gives sh*t about them.

Your right, it is your opinion....and everyone has a right to their own opinion. However, consider this....if the NSX is such a beautiful car, why are older versions in such high demand (some examples costing as much as the new one) and the new ones barely getting moved off of showroom floors? Nissan didn't fail with the GT-R, because it clearly sells....way more than the NSX could. The GT-R can be the ugliest thing on four wheels, and as long as it's profitable, it will survive. I agree on the German and Italian badge theory because the clientele is different. You don't see successful doctors and lawyers driving RC-F's and GT-R's, right? I personally think the NSX tried too hard to look exotic and steered too far off from the previous designs. Look at all generation NSX's in the past, they all have a unique unmistakable NSX traits about them that without badges would scream NSX to you! The new one is a project that had multiple failures during it's inception (delays, management changes, project direction changes, budget constraints, etc...) all the ingredients of a bad sports car formula. The original NSX was a "New Sports car Experiment" that had a no compromise mentality, and because of that succeeded even when it's competition was more powerful, more expensive, and more exotic. The front of the new NSX (in my opinion) looks like Mazda Speed 3 on steroids.

This man is correct. I am glad Nissan went the route with a true DCT in the R35. Had they offered a manual, it would’ve not only been slower in racing, but also less forgiving in accidents (mis-shifts, etc..). This is why I am hoping the MKV Supra will come with a DCT. To beat the competition nowadays, you need not only power....but the ability to shift very very quickly.

There is dead air and little news for a reason. Toyota has something up there sleeve, and whether it's good or bad the world will know soon. Something tells me they have gone back to the drawing board. Take that as you may..

speaking of which, there was some discussion on transmission options that may end up being in the refresh.

I'd assume 'launch' = press debut, as in showing the world what will be available for sale shortly.

I expect the car to arrive on dealer lots in late summer/early fall 2019 if all goes well.
