I am a 21 supra owner with a lock ECU. And I'm currently using JB4 was using OTS map and blown my turbo. Not pointing out who's recommendation or what leading to blown turbo.
But now I am with a new turbo/jb4 and a new custom map with @DaBears . I would like to have all the JB4 users in here to share their experiences or recommendations for JB4 tuner.
Let me share with you my experience first.
I've been running jb4 since March of 2021 at the beginning I'm doing map two and then graduate to three and E30 Map four with full bolt on such as AMS intake, AMS charged pipe, FI catless downpipe and full FI cat-back system.. anyway I'm talking to BMS about wanted more horsepowers and talk to one of their tuner and after back and forth on a few map he recommended me to try map five That's when my turbo blown, I believe map five is a little bit too high for the OEM turbo since we pushing 22 PSI.
So anyway I got a replacement OEM turbo since our car is still locked on the ECU.
Luckily some of the member in here recommend me to a tuner his name is @DaBears since I have work with him my car runs much better much smoother and produce much more powers than I expected to be out of JB4. Currently I am running E-40 the car felt great and produce great power, I was thinking somewhere next week would go to do Dyno session and see what kind of horsepower am I running.
So my purpose for this post is asking all the JB4 user is please share your experiences up here so us the 21 Supra owner can share and learn from each other.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for creating this thread, I too am bouncing around with my locked ECU trying to make more power. I have recently had a jb4 added to my car too and I have all the bolts on's such as Catless DP from titan, HKS Super Turbo Muffler Exhaust system, AMS air intake, AMS charge pipe, and upgrading cooling like AMS Heat Exchanger, CSF Tranny cooler, and Aux radiators.

I started off by running map 2 for a few weeks and then decided to run map 3. However, I noticed an issue. In full boost, I would feel the car not gaining smoothly, there was like this struggle kind of like multiple mini jerks happening while climbing through the gears. So I decided to pay a visit to my local tuner. He said the car was running lean and can't do much about it since the ECU is locked. They did a custom map 6 for me and were told that the torque would be a little lower (380) but will be good under full boost. Anyways after doing a few dyno runs we learned that she makes 405 WHP. Which I honestly found a little disappointing given all the mods and peers making more power, however, she goes through gears smoothly. So far, I am still currently running the same custom map6 setup.

Seeking to eventually try another tuner if this ECU stays as is.

Was the local tuner familiar with JB4?

Do you have the optional EWG connection? This sounds very similar to my experience when I first got the JB4 & ran it without the EWG connection. After adding, power delivery was smooth.

I got mine as part of the new JB4 release so those came with it built in.

How can I check if I’m locked or not. Just got a 21 a91
This is slightly offtopic for this thread, but you can pull (well, slide-out) the ECU and check it. Video Here.

The JB4 is a piggyback and works great with a locked ECU.

he also helped me with a custom map, guy is very responsive and helpful, definitely recommend and worth doing. Night and day difference from a regular OTS tune

I definitely feel the difference when @DaBears giving me that custom map.. The acceleration much smoothers and full boost compared to the OTS map. And you are right He's very responsive and very helpful when you needed help and I will definitely recommend him.

I have been working with @DaBears to fine tune my Jb4 with a custom map. So far it's been a pleasure working with him. He is very quick to reply and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend using him to get the most out of our untunable 2021s. Car is feeling really good and fast compared to stock.
