Part of me wants to explain to these manual lovers that it’s time to ditch the pop up headlights and come into the new era of sport car technology..

but part of me wishes that everyone that buys a Nissan Z gets the 6 speed. Much easier to beat on the street

There is no explaining it. Like talking to a retarded wall.
Next they'll be wanting drum brakes, cassette decks, wind up windows, no air-conditioning, because in the 80's cars were just better ?

Can everyone please STFU about auto vs manual. If you love your auto only Supra cool beans. If you want a manual then there will be choices out there for you. It's something called personal preference...
To be fair, that's how the Z is marketed by YouTubers. As the "Supra killer with a manual" so of course that's going to be a huge part of the Z vs Supra conversation. I'd go as far as to say it's the only reason anyone would buy a Z over a Supra. Certainly won't be because of looks, or performance, or quality.
The whole point of the Z vs Supra, is the transmission.

Ok and when did we start giving a rat's ass about what retarded youtubers think lol.

Most of that is just your opinion. Again, it boils down to personal preference.

Look - subjective
Performance - maybe not on par with the 3.0, but bye bye 2.0 if the reporting is true.
Quality - I mean Nissan isn't the benchmark by any means, but let's not pretend the Supra is without sin.

I certainly don't, but you know how it goes.

The 2.0 didn't sell anyway, so nothing lost. As mentioned before, that option only makes sense in countries that tax engine sizes.

BMW quality isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than Nissan. And you pay for that, and not even nearly as much as if it had the BMW emblem on it.

Right, same here.

That still doesn't change the fact that it is offered here.

I guess we'll see when we get long term reliability on the two. I never disputed the fact that it's pretty cheap when compared to the $64k Z4 M40i since we're ignoring the 2.0 models. :dunno:

Am I the only person who paid attention to notice that you will need all these parts just to get 500hp while on the Supra you just need a dp and a tune? And it still need flex fuel to hit 500!

if this is for real, I feel sorry for the Z owners. Objectively, I can’t see the Z packing enough power with their open deck block. It’s going to need new turbos if they don’t run flex fuel. ?

Yeah it's big money to make the Vr30ddtt have big Boi power. Was checking charts on their forum a couple weeks ago.
5-10k in mods and work (if you aren't doing it yourself which is many many people.) Doesn't get you what you'd think for the money. The B58 continues to prove a worthy choice for Toyota.

I could even see the new BRZ/GR86 taking away 2.0 sales too. But let's face it, the 2.0 only made sense in countries where you get taxed on engine size.

The 2.0 makes sense to those who don't see the Supra as only a straight line car though. I'm assuming you've never owned or driven a BRZ/86? I owned one right before my Supra for 6 years and was boosted to 300whp/255wtq yet for some reason my 2.0 still felt quicker. The people who will buy a BRZ/GR86 just wanted something lighter, CHEAPER, and a manual option(like a Miata hardtop with backseats). But I'll concede that the Z will be the nail in the coffin of the 2.0 and to a degree the 3.0 as well.

I've owned 2 Mazda RX-8's which are essentially the same thing. I get the cheaper thing. I'm just talking generally speaking, which the sales figures agree with. The 2.0 (in the U.S.) is waaaay too niche of a market because the cheaper purchase price is literally it's only advantage. In places where road taxes and huge fuel prices are a thing, the 2.0 makes much more sense, in general.

as old and mediocre as that car is.
With the cost to develop high and return low on low volume, they will 'mask' the age of the overall state of the 'new' Z. With so much of the car carrying over they are asking a premium for the car vs the 370Z that is done with. State of industry for sportscars. New sheetmetal will only provide so much cover. They have stated it will drive like a 'lighter' car so development on weight loss was also potentially not a focus as well.

The Z has not been tested properly at all. Nails and coffins- thats a touch early. What will be interesting is how it fares against both. If its only marginally better than the 2.0 then what lol.

In terms of looks alone, after owning a 370Z, the new one is the epitome of Corporate boring, compromise in terms of looks and without a doubt the same mechanically. Sure it is an improvement vs the 370 but that was not something that would be hard to achieve, given the age of the 370 to begin with.

The Supra is much better looking car to me. The Z is new and much of it is not and styling wise its just already worth forgetting. Its boring overall. Rides higher and weighs more than the Supra. Its a GT as Nissan stated. This is a Z in name only. Its far from the concept of the 240 overall. In terms of mass, its a boat lol. For me the styling of it is already aged.
