This is bound to happen: Toyota is still clueless about servicing the Supra. I will never go back to them for service after they rotated my tires, and then washed my car and badly swirled my paint using towels they had just used for some asswipeā€™s Tundra.

Iā€™ll get this recall done in 6 months.
Why is the Tundra owner an asswipe? Seems like the dealer is who you should be mad at bro!

I didnā€™t mention the Tundra owner dissing my Supra. So, yeah, an asswipe. As for the dealership, the GM got an earful and I filed a complaint with regional.

Ah, that makes a little more sense. Iā€™ve had some guys at the dealership hate on meā€¦ I figure itā€™s likely jealousy. Either way, I bought the Supra for me, no one else. Okay, maybe my wife a little too, but other than that I really donā€™t care if anyone else likes it or not. Okay, okay, you guys too, but you guys are obviously Supra-lovers!

The Tundra dude gave me the whole ā€œyou know thatā€™s not a Toyota, right?ā€ BS, and started in with how his 392 Charger is faster, that my ā€œlittle V6 couldnā€™t pull a greasy string out of a dogā€™s assā€¦blah blah.ā€ I offered to meet and race him but he declined.

So how can I verify that the update has been performed?

I took in my 2020 Supra today, and they asked to keep it all day - picked it up at 5:30pm (I saw the tech driving my Supra into the service gate at 5:00 - supposedly it was completed within 15 minutes, almost as if it was left to the end of the day).

I DON'T have Full Screen Apple CarPlay, which makes me wonder that the recall was not completed correctly.

I am uneasy as they seemed rather incompetent and uninformed about how to service the car (they had me reschedule once already to have all the parts & tools ready)

What does your paperwork say?
This site seems to update every 24 hours. https://www.toyota.com/recall

Seems like there's a remedy for the seat belt recall now, which I wonder if that's what they did on your car since it wouldn't require much time to inspect and replace it.

Thanks for this, my paperwork says 21TA04, and it seems Iā€™ll have to wait for the site to update tomorrow; I am now afraid that they may flag my car as fixed due to user error

21TA04 is the safety recall for brake booster. The one for the seat belt just recently has a remedy now.

Bummer. Entirely speculation - its possible the recall was addressed and they either neglected or opted out of pushing all other available updates. I can imagine the ISTA (or w/e Toyota version of ISTA), has a picklist of updates - not like a computer's updates. Full screen carplay has previously been reported to have been installed onto cars from a dealer due to a rare circumstance where the infotainment had issues and when they got their car back it had full screen carplay.

The only thing you can do is re-check with the same dealer or a new dealer if you have a concern and if there's still a question, file a claim with Toyota corporate. Since it's recall related, I'm sure they'll reach out.

Some techs can overlook things thinking a car doesnā€™t need an update but arenā€™t reading the ā€œI levelā€ correctly. Wrongly assuming itā€™s not in the recall window and not performing it. Read the bottom of the page. Some techs are looking only at the last 3 numbers and wrongly assuming itā€™s not needed.

Had mine done today. Got full screen car play afterwards. Most of my settings seem to have been reset too. Memory seats gone. Everything from BimmerCode code has been wiped clean.

If you donā€™t have full screen carplay the I-level has not been updated, which means the brake booster campaign has not been completed (if your vehicle was subject to it - my understanding was every 3.0 supra made was the subject of the recall).

To verify your I level:
BimmerCode shows it on the vehicle information screen; or

Export your driver profile to a usb, then use any text editor to view the resulting .mpd file and it shows the current I level in plain text.

To export your profile, Navigate to "My Vehicle" and select your profile,
Select the ā€œExport to USBā€ option.

If the I level is below S18T-21-07-519, (Supra, 2021, July, 519) you wonā€™t have full screen carplay and the brake booster recall campaign has not been done.

This workflow pic may assist the tech.

My dealership has had my car for 4 days now and they're saying it's still not done with the recall.... makes me wonder if something else is up. When I went there last Thursday it was hooked up for a software update... followed up today and they can't give me a timeline saying they're still waiting on something from toyota.
