Hi everyone, I was just looking for advice or suggestions on mods. I have a 21 that cannot be tuned and would like to still add some mods. I really love working on this car and kinda hit a roadblock. I'm not too sure what else I can add without requiring a tune. Current mods below:

-HKS Intake
-HKS Hi power exhaust
-HKS hipermax springs
-Verus Turbo heat shield
-Verus Differential heat shield
-Blitz strut brace
-Mishimoto catch can
-Interior CF pieces

(Ordered but not yet received)

-AA Catted DP
-Mishimoto Charge pipe
-TE37 SL Diamond Black

Ultimate goal would be to take the car to the track.

You can order anything w/o tuning except fueling, meth, and turbos.

Some of your mods above would be better ROI with a tune, but don't require it.

Edit:

Given your desire to track the car: you should invest in sway bars and end links, bumpsteer correction, rear toe and eccentric lockout, front camber, and coilovers.

Thanks! I was looking into sway bars next. I'll use your list to research parts.

You can absolutely do meth and a turbo without a tune (JB4). You won't get the max power outta a pure800, but you can absolutely use it.

JB4 is a piggyback tune. You can't change turbo, fuel, or meth without a tune of some kind.

I would install JB4 and not go beyond map 2. You can use higher maps with fuel upgrades.

Well, ok, sure. If you want to call the piggy back a tune sure. Most people don't consider it a 'tune.' I run a JB4 w/ with meth, JB4 is tuned by DaBears, I wouldn't consider myself having a tune, most people wouldn't. But, yes, pedantically, you're correct.

I actually purchased a jb4. They ran out of stock as I ordered it so I decided to cancel the purchase. I canceled because after I purchased I saw some posts on here stating that they had issues with the product.

I'm new to modding and tuning vehicles so I usually look for user friendly products. So far my method has been research and youtube for installs lol

Some users have had issues but berger tuning does have support. You can also opt to have a custom Jb4 map made as well. @DaBears here in the group does custom mapping for JB4 with really good results.

I might give it a shot. Can I run pure800 with jb4? Also, does it remove CEL?

it doesn’t remove CEL. You can run a pure800, but you won’t get anywhere near maximizing it. You’ll need fuel modifications to do that. Leaves you with a stand-alone for fuel management - I’d advise against.

When you say track, do you mean drag strip road course? If road course, investing in suspension and handling mods should be first priority. This would be my recommendation, which follows my mod path and soon to be mods:

-18” Wheels and 275 squared tires (if your HKS springs are the adjustable version)
- CFG C21/C11 brake pads. Best brake pads I’ve used, period
- SPL front lower control arms to unlock more camber
- SPL Sway bar end links to remove the rubber slop, get more direct steering feel, and help prevent the sway bar from rubbing the SPL control arms
- aFe or Eibach sway bars (front first if you would only do one)
- SPL caster bushings to again remove rubber slop snd help with overall steering input feel
- Bucket seat and harness bar or roll bar to help keep you in your seat and prevent the death grip on the steering wheel when cornering at high speeds

Then you can get into aero which can get costly but is effective when done right.

Does going squared provide more grip? If so, what tires would you recommend. I was going to look into some ps4s.

I'd agree with everything above about suspension. The car already has a ton of power, beyond most of our abilities, and being able to control it better or more precisely with suspension upgrades is a great place to start.

Other important things to consider if you're looking to do road course tracking is fuel starvation and oil starvation (is oil starvation the correct term?).

Regardless, fuel modifications to ensure fuel is always being supplied evenly in hard cornering and the same concept for oil circulation is extremely important. Just met someone today that blew their motor on the track due to fuel starvation.

Yikes! I didn't think about the oil/fuel starvation. How much oil should I bring with me on a track day?

Also, is there a post that talks about fuel modifications?
