Hello all.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Purchased my 2021 GR 2 months ago and absolutely love it. I do however have a hard time with the amount of brake dust that accumulates on the rims. After only a few miles of driving, the dust is terrible. Anybody have any thoughts on aftermarket pads that will help with this issue?
Thanks,
Jerry

Thereā€™s a thread on it somewhere here. I know, because I looked it up because I too am being driven nuts by the BMW brake dust. And itā€™s twice as bad for me as the owner of an M240i as well.

Someone useful will hopefully chime in with a definitive answer. There are some good and gooder options, but I was left unsure of which to get.

The Powerstop Z16 ceramics are the way to go, so much less dust

Hey Jerry, congrats on the car!

This is kind of a catch-22, because the only way to have "less dust" is to have a less aggressive pad. Wear and performance go hand in hand, so if you like the bite of the stock pads, anything that performs as well will have similar wear & dust characteristics. The other thing to know, is that Ceramic-based pads don't necessarily create less dust, but less visible dust, as it's lighter in color, and doesn't stick to the wheels quite as easily.

Thanks for the suggestion. No loss of stopping power with these pads?

From my track experience, you will lose about 20ft on 100 mph to 60 mph during hard braking. see below although the discussion is more oriented for track day.

I psudo-ceramic coated my new wheels and dust comes off so much easier. I'd recommend doing that than compromise stopping distance. You will never know when you wish that you had extra 6 inches to avoid an accident. but that's just me.

~ For daily driving on the streets you will see no difference in performanceā€¦ just much much less brake dust.

As for the track, you may notice some slight differences but I donā€™t track my car.

Iā€™ve been running these pads (Z16) on my Supra for nearly 6,000 miles (including some aggressive braking). Zero issuesā€¦ just much cleaner wheels.

I agree, there is less initial bite and the brakes do not work quite as well, although they are still more than adequate. I don't track my car and don't drive crazy fast so I don't need the best brakes in the world. I do wish it could brake as good as the stock pads, but the tradeoff is worth it. 10% less braking performance for 98% less brake dust

I noticed a little loss, less initial bite so it feels less like a BMW and more like any other car. Braking is more linear and you have to push a little harder to get it to stop as quickly IMO

Ok, great advice. I dont track my car and never plan to. I do sometimes like to drive aggressively when conditions permit..... it is a Supra afterall.....
I have not been able to find a listing online for these pads for the 2021 Supra.
Any favorite sites I should visit for these?

When your wheels are off take the time to brakleen the rotors and calipers really well to remove the old caked on dust. Probably good to use degreaser to clean inside of wheels too! I wanted to do this before getting my wheels powder coated and ceramic coated so I wouldn't be messing them up, hope this helps!
