Lol yeah I was like wth is he using that metal pry bar. But he was pretty careful not to scuff the caliper. He didn‘t use the weights on the new pads. Are those not necessary? Thank you for the suggestion using wooden dowels. For the rears I have a brake piston tool might be perfect for pushing the piston back.
The Z16 pads come with the weights on them. Im not sure what pads he used but they were missing.

After 3 weeks and about 300+ miles, wheels are still clean! There’s still some minor brake dust but significantly less than the factory metallic pads.

How do you clean the cover?

When I wipe it with a microfiber towel, it catches.
I simply power wash the engine at the quarter carwash with the soap and then rinse. I dry all of the other engine areas off less the main engine cover.

You are right the cover can’t be wiped down due to the grabbing material its made of. I sure wish it was made of a smooth black finish.

Once I find out the status of my Supra (oil burning issue), I’m going to have to get the low dust pads. Just amazing how much dust comes off of those things.

You won’t regret the change! I can go several weeks without washing now and the wheels are still noticeably clean.

I just got these pads, excited to install!

Did you guys change the rear caliper bolt? I didn't know it was a thing but some guy in the comments section mentioned it is a one time torque to yield bolt that should be replaced when doing the rear pads, looks like 2 bolts per side for a total of 4?

I should probably not cheap out and buy it considering its $5 a bolt but what do you guys think?

~ No need to change them out. Just reuse them. It’s all good!

My trusted mechanic, who specializes in BMWs, said you only need to replace that bolt when the pads are worn out.

BTW, I have a set of OEM pads with just under 5k miles, if anyone local is interested in buying them. I’m in the IE.

Looks super easy exc for getting the rear piston retracted. No way am I using needle nose pliars and channel locks to twist it. There is a BMW tool for that job??? Suggestions. Also how to get the glued on pads off the first time. Prying on the painted caliper also seems like a terrible idea.

Needle nose pliers worked perfectly to retract the piston on the rears, and it only took 1-2 revolutions. No channel locks required.

On the front, you must use a pry bar. Put a towel under it. But there's no other way.
