After all the ooh's and ahh's the bottom line is that the current HKS mushroom filter results in ingestion of hot, poorly-filtered air.
That has always been the case with the HKS mushroom filter, but at the end of the day it still outflows any other filter and for it's intended use(the track) it works really well. If you're someone that daily drives your Supra then no it's probably not the ideal filter to have. If you just bring it to the track or out on the weekends for a drive then it's really not that much of an issue.

Any sound clips? Did you get the full box or exposed? If full box any discoloration on the CF?
The full box just came out I think 6 months ago or so. No long term discoloration so far.

As for sound clips, I'll try to see if I can get some for y'all. Need to find a not crappy weather day to do it.

Zero issues with mine also.
not really worried about the “hot air it ingests” 75* air intake temp, 90* IAT, 120* IAT, still gets heated up to 175-200* and then cooled back down to what the A2W exchanger can cool it to. Not saying it doesn’t make a difference, I’m sure it does a little, but not enough to make me wanna run out and get a box. Some of the guys I know that run armaspeed pulled the lid off to get the sound louder.

Not my video but sounds just like this. I'm running without a box and it sounds good but not loud. I've had mine about a year and no discoloration on the cf. Love the way it looks and was really easy to install.

I've had my HK box Set up all summer. (FBO car)Can still hear it pretty decent inside and especially outside even with Magnaflow exhaust with race baffle on active flap side wide open.
It definitely decreased my iats but I also have a csf upgraded exchanger.
Side note Nominal IATs witb this car seem to be about 20° higher than outside air temp. I like the set up a lot. HKS or Eventuri is my opinion.

I got it exposed but now thinking it’ll look better with the box. I just did a run in the canyons in Mexico. Ima edit the footage and get some sound clips. I got HKS Intake with HKS exhaust and AA catted DP.
