Good evening.

Going to test drive a new supra on staurday, if all goes well I'll be ordering one. Still not sure on which colour to go for as I've not seen many on the road. I was looking to go with white but curious on the look of the ice grey metallic.

Been doing some research but alot of the videos I've seen have been for the US, I've seen the a91 is an update on the a90 but seen some conflicting information about the power still at 335 instead of the 385 and we still have the 2 port turbo manifold instead of the 6.

Thanks for any advice and fingers crossed I'll be placing an order on Saturday

Thanks

Chris

Simple break down. In the USA all a91's are 2021 special editions that got the revised 6 port engine shared with the m340 and z4 m40i making 38x hp, while 2020's in the USA have the 2 port engine with 335hp that is unique to that car, it has its own model designation B58-xxx something I forgot but 2020's are unique and the closest engine to relate is in x5 40i which is a gen 2 b58 with 2 port and 335hp, but still slight differences. In the EU, all cars regardless of 2019,20,21,22 are the 2 port 335hp engine still, even the special editions that mimic the 2021 a91 here. Hope that helps

I think the 2 ports are B58B30C and 6 ports are B58B30O1 iirc

someone posted a list the other day I saw which name all the different b58 generations and names, but ya I think you are right. I just remember the only one to be completely unique is the 2020 supra engine

Don't buy one, as I want to keep them really rare on the roads here in the UK ?

Here in the UK we only have the 335 hp (on paper) version. I have a 2020 and had it on a dyno last year and it made 350 hp, but people said that dyno was giving lower figures than expected to everyone that day.

You'll love it ?

I believe Europe got stuck with the 2 port models.

As for color, I'm a bit biased, but I'd go with white. The pearl finish is 100% worth the extra maintenance to keep it clean, especially when you catch the sunlight off it.

Will the 6 ports have an advantage with tuning or will only be noticeable if pushing very high numbers

if you can get them tuned haha, the ECU's have had a security update and it's only possible to send ECU's to russia to have them unlocked, anything after june 2020 will have a locked ECU.

hopefully more people will be able to crack it soon, i think it also affects other BMWs too.

in terms of colour, i didnt want a stand out colour like the red or yellow, i've owned a black car in the past and the scratches are a nightmare, i've currently got grey, and i didnt want white so only left with Tungsten Silver :headbang: seem to be quite popular in the states the silver from what i've seen on YT. But choose whatever is right for you mate, try going with something you've not had and different to others.

i've not had any updates on my build date yet still hoping for April/May (ordered in December) good luck on your test drive and yes like mentioned above do some pulls in it.

Hopefully you hear soon then. The one I'm test driving is white so that will help with making a decision on colour. All being well by the time I'm happy to do a remap and void the warranty there will be some good options. One of the best bang for buck seems a new down pipe with hfc but not sure if you would still need a remap to stop a cell light.

Atleast some of the mod prices don't seem to ridiculous. I'm coming from an s6 and every just seemed so over priced

If i remember correctly, europe doesn't get the 6 port B58's due to emissions data of something... idk what but i think everyone gets the 2 port B58's there... the only issue is you guys will be on the newer DME's depending on the year you guys get. Anything over 6/2020 is locked. Gotta either ship to Russia for unlock or clone.. ??‍♂

I dont understand why they have changed the security on the new version but then left the performance the same. I assuming we still get all the other updated performance with the handling.

This has been discussed several times. It's about protecting IP around autonomous driving and such. All Bosch ECUs do this, and other ECU manufacturers will follow us (if they haven't already).

Software is important to lock down from an IP/Patent perspective, no one gives a fuck about tuning.
