Does it make more power? Probably not, but until I replace the charge pipe its all moot anyway but holy crap it looks good.
Not sure what you mean exactly, but the charge pipe doesn't do anything but provide meth bungs, and hold large amounts of boost. ~20ish psi, which is a few more than stock is completely fine on the stock charge pipe.

I mean in that the stock pipe is restrictive as hell and a common BMW failure point anyway. Any tiny gains from flow on the intake side are strangled in the stock pipe if it isn’t leaking out anyway. Since boost is a measure of restriction and not airflow itself, it technically should also help the turbo spool slightly easier as well since it improves flow characteristics. I’ve not run it through enough CFD yet to truly test it but eye test says it should work.

Your stock pipe isn't leaking boost, and there are literally no flow problems with it at all. The only reason to upgrade it is if it stock doesn't fit your turbo, intake manifold, you add port injection, or you need the bungs for meth or nitrous. You're not restricted there.

Also, the charge pipe is on the other side of the turbo, there is nothing choking anything on the intake.

The typical BMW charge pipe probably have been mostly limited to the first gen B58, which we don't have.

Charge pipe is on the pressure side of the turbo right? By definition if it’s a restrictive design, it would choke flow before the throttle body.

Yup! Pressure side.

It's not restrictive and holds pressure fine. I'm just trying to give you a little friendly advice on this engine. If your charge pipe is holding pressure, you're fine.

But hey, don't take my word for it. I don't know much about these engines.

No worries, just a friendly early morning debate on airflow. Not much else to do while reading through last nights emails and Slacks. I know the problem of the previous engines so was already planning on making sure I didn’t get hit with that again (I had a M440i and the pipe split down the spine). Personally I prefer smoother and quicker response to more power so I know we’re talking minute gains in the numbers but I’m more concerned with how those numbers are delivered.

You too, huh?
My life in one word. Apparently, setting my quiet hours and office hours means nothing. Every morning I ask the question of who the hell sends emails at 1AM? You don’t have the excuse of being in a different time zone, I know where you live!

Car's going in to do the stuff I can't do without a lift: Endless MX72 brake pads, RF 650 fluid (brake fluid flush), and 5k mile oil change.

Installed the Rexpeed carbon fiber door sills and side mirrors. Perfect fit on the door sills and they look great to me. The mirrors look great and really help to eliminate the blind spots but it’s gonna take getting used to. Also, on the driver side there is one wire that ends up not having any place to plug on the new mirrors and I don’t know what it’s for. Other than that install was easy. Thank you to Eddy from @Suma Performance for helping me get these at a pretty good price. Great customer service from @Suma Performance! Welcome to the forum.
looking good! Thanks for purchasing from us :)
