New Owner - So Much Hate?

The hate is only from 12 year old keyboard warriors online. I've never experienced anything but praise in person (and the occasional tongue-in-cheek BMW joke), even from MKIII and MKIV supra owners. It's a great car that gets a ridiculous amount of positive attention when driving around.

Me too. In the real world people love this car. Nothing but thumbs up, nice car, the occasional "is that a Supra" which I personally think is fun, cars speeding up or slowing down to get a better look, and cell phones out to take pics and video. I've not had one person say anything negative to me.

There's no real hate, OP. Especially on this forum. We all have the same car. There have been a couple of Supra "purists" or whatever from ThatOtherForum™ that show up once in a while and start shit, but they usually get banned quickly for being dicks.

Aside from the occasional tiff between members, we agree on the important stuff, such as:

* Yellow is the best color
* Auth trans is the best/fastest
* Swapping out your downpipe is modifying your exhaust
* What the word 'knock-off' means
* The 2.0 is a reasonable engine
* What "A90" vs. "A91" means
* Ecutek or bust

So agree on the important things, enjoy the car. Fuck the trolls with their 'It's a BMW' and 'It's not a real Supra.'

I saw a guy saying it’s not a Supra without a 2JZ… does that mean the MKIV is the only Supra?… along with a few other Toyota/Lexus models? (I’m like 99% sure only the mkiv had the 2JZ, someone correct me if I’m wrong.)

OP here again and I appreciate all the feedback. Just to clarify, I don't care one bit about what others think about what I drive. I buy cars for me. I was just struck by how divisive this car is amongst certain people.

Already have the $10 anti-buffeting blades on order as well as the stuff to "stuff" the subwoofer. Seems like lots of good folks on here with a wealth of information that I appreciate already.

Not having Android Auto is the only real bummer to me so far so I'm looking at different phone mounting options. Seems like from what I read, Proclip is a preferred option but open to other suggestions as well. Thanks again...

Nothing I’ve seen touches ProClip for ease of use and it blends right in. Have one in my 4Runner as well, nothing I’ve seen on the market even comes close.

I suppose it depends on your peer group you choose to hang with as to how much hate you receive...All my friends, acquaintances, peers, and even random people in parking lots have had nothing but compliments for my Supra...

The only time I see hate comments are from key board / social media a-holes which I could care less about anyway!

Apparently, the MkIV, the IS300, SC300, and the GS300 are real Supras then.

Confirmed in community the greatest amount of hate you get is for holding wrong beliefs. I mean, it's been confirmed that AbZero is the best color.
