Anyone that truly believes that BMW will allow Toyota to have the better version of the same car is going to be extremely disappointed. The A90 will always be a step behind. That why the only option Toyota has is to work it into their marketing as a more pure sports car (none convert
Different head, D4S, also the MKV has been tested for a while now, so it must have quite the odometer
I only deal with facts. Show me proof or anything from Toyota stating any of that as fact.

The Z4 and A90 have been tested for the same exact amount of time.

Oh yes, proof of Toyota stating leaked info

Never knew it was considered a GT.

You know that not every car that has the letters GT or is super fast and luxurious is considered a Grand Tourer, right?
Why not? It meets the criteria posted a few pages back. Its also about the same length as the A80. LFA: 177.4 in and Supra: 177.8 in.

What is your definition of a GT? Only 2+2? If that is the case then the JDM FDs are also GTs. ;)

BMW’s approach to the new Z4. It’s the fastest Z4 we ever created, here come and drive it do you can write articles about how great it is. Zero mention of Toyota or Supra from BMW.

Toyota’s approach is let’s try to separate this car from BMW and the Z4 as much as possible so people won’t realize it’s just a Z4 that looks different. What can we possibly do to differentiate it from the Z4? It’s not a convertible so we can tune the suspension differently which will be the biggest difference between the two. It won’t be as luxurious as the Z4 so let’s say it’s because it’s designed to be more of a pure sports car.

Toyota is doing a horrible job keeping the interest for this car. I was super interested even with all the BMW faults because I really do think it will be a fun car but it’s taking so long to release any real info that my excitement turned into being bored with this car and now all I see is the it’s fault and weaknesses. Toyota has a lot to learn about marketing.

Sorry, just not feeling it anymore.

Supercars are not Grand Tourer’s. That’s all.

I guess this is a GT as well then since it’s in the name.

I never said the Mazda6 was. Its not a sports car and doesn't have 2 doors. ;) Why are you avoiding the question? What is your definition of a GT?

https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/Grand_tourer.html

A grand tourer (Italian: gran turismo) (GT) is a performance and luxury automobile capable of high speed and spirited long-distance driving. The most common format is a two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement.

This is a good description of what I consider a GT.

The terms "grand tourer", "grand turismo", "grande routière", and "GT" are among the most misused terms in motoring.[3] The grand touring designation generally "means motoring at speed, in style, safety, and comfort."[18] "Purists define "gran turismo" as the enjoyment, excitement and comfort of open-road touring."[19]

According to one author, "the ideal is of a car with the ability to cross a continent at speed and in comfort yet provide driving thrills when demanded" and it should exhibit the following:[3]

  • The engines "should be able to cope with cruising comfortably at the upper limits on all continental roads without drawbacks or loss of usable power."
  • "Ideally, the GT car should have been devised by its progenitors as a Grand Tourer, with all associated considerations in mind."
  • "It should be able to transport at least two in comfort with their luggage and have room to spare — probably in the form of a two plus two (2+2) seating arrangement."
  • The design, both "inside and out, should be geared toward complete control by the driver."
  • Its "chassis and suspension provide suitable handling and roadholding on all routes" during travels.
Grand tourers emphasize comfort and handling over straight-out high performance or ascetic, spartan accommodations. In comparison, sports cars (also a "much abused and confused term") are typically more "crude" compared to "sophisticated Grand Touring machinery."[20] However, the popularity of using GT for marketing purposes has meant that it has become a "much misused term, eventually signifying no more than a slightly tuned version of a family car with trendy wheels and a go-faster stripe on the side."[21]

Historically, most GTs have been front-engined with rear-wheel drive, which creates more space for the cabin than mid-mounted engine layouts. Softer suspensions, greater storage, and more luxurious appointments add to their driving appeal

Now the A80 is what I consider a GT with a heart of a sports car. It was a daily driver with the potential to smoke higher end sports cars. Made fun of vettes and BMW’s. The A90 is a BMW, that is why it’s not the same for those who are true fans of the A80. Only those who own or owned the A80 will understand.

Not an official statement from Toyota, but if you go onto Moto's page he has said it will use a new motor. Out of the two I would much rather believe a friend of Tada san over some 39 year old in AL.

So you want facts? Where are your facts that this car is doom? Why don't you just wait for the official press release and maybe more importantly a chance to get behind the wheel of one before passing judgement?

Of course hes entitle to express his opinion. A lot of us are just wondering what he doesn't like about it. What I find to be funny is that so many people in general are already saying its a failure when there has been so little official info that has been disclosed.
