I had been purposely avoiding doing some upgrades to stay Street class legal since the Supra wasn't classed in Street Touring.

Now that they've created the new SST class how competitive do you think the Supra can be in the class and what do you think will be the must haves in order to be competitive?

What do they allow you to do for mods? Wouldn't mind trying out scca over my normal series. I just have a feeling my car is past the legal points for sst....

The key things would be you have to have a catted downpipe and no aero other than OE parts. Those are the things I see on here a lot that might be a conflict. There is always XA class for a lot more allowances which my Supra is in.

I ended up running locally in SST - apex wheels 19x9.5 19x11 , titanium cat back, coil overs with camber plates, adjustable front sway bar so not really built to class yet and I was pretty competitive. Next year I’m changing the fronts to 19x11 and running a square setup plus a cold air intake catted downpipe and possibly a JB4 if it’s legal?

What size tires are you putting on the 19x11s when you have the square setup? I'm wondering what the max width is that can go on the front without rubbing too much

I’m somewhat tempted. Just good coil overs and camber arms/plates coupled with some wider wheels would probably get you 95% of the way there.

I'm on 315s all around with no rubbing. My car is only lowered a 1/2" though.

Just curious, what are the restrictions in that class and how are you doing (liking) in it?

Sorry I missed this. I basically started prepping my car after the '21 season so I've not competed in it. It's fairly open rules so my car has a lot of track/autox things done (turbo, cooling, suspension, wheels/tires, aero). I think a car like mine will easily be able to trophy if not win at nats in XA. With XS pulling the away the higher starting point cars, I think Supra along with some high prep AWD cars and super high prep twins should be the top picks for a while.

I sound like a broken record I bet but…. Lol. You get enough seat time with the right pro instructor and you can beat almost anyone. Sure it’s not cheap but a good buddy did it with John Dean and he was killing it against far superior cars. And of course it was fun to watch John Dean hop in any car and smoke up everything out there, spinning around Porsches, etc. I know you’re not saying that but just wanted to reiterate how helpful it is.

Sounds like fun man and good luck next season! Keep us posted on how you do ?

I've been doing this a long time and I'm an Evo instructor so I know what you are saying. in 2015 I raw'd CAMC in an FS car at nats but the new XS classes are drawing talent very quickly for a supplemental class. Should be fun either way.

If I have just the FTP intake pipe and Verus resonator delete will I still be able to run in street class? Still the stock airbox.

No, not legal to modify either part unfortunately for Street. They are fine in SST.

Damn. They are easy enough to pop on and off for a weekend though so no big deal. Are sway bars worth it?
