So I installed android auto & apple car play on my 2.0 ltr 2021 supra

What android do you have? I have the Galaxy S21 Ultra and I read there's some unsolved issues with the AA on this phone

Any phone I connect displays out of whack. I have tried galaxy S10....Google Pixel 6 and 7. They all work fine in the other vehicles.

Make sure you're on AUX.

Also, confirming what @YellowJackit said. You lose touch screen capabilities while using the MMI

I have no issues with the sound quality when it works. My issue is the display...and more recently, it takes over iDrive and won't let go. Mine will be coming out the next time I need to get behind the dash.

Hold the menu key on the center console.

Familiar with that process. Mine won't give control back without a shift to reverse.

I thought about attempting this for Android auto out of a Z4. Might be worth a shot. Didn't know the base came without car play, that's wack

Thinking of ripping mine out and returning it too.
Discovered to exit if the long press menu isnt working, you need exit to the black/white interface (disconnect AA) then scroll to exit and press down on right button on the steering wheel to select.

Being unable to switch back and forth between idrive quickly, breaks it for me.
If it didnt lockout, I'd probably keep it.

If you get a head unit from any BMW product with iDrive 6, make sure CarPlay has been activated. CarPlay was a subscription service in 10 year increments from BMw on ID6.....$300! Remote coding options run about $75.
