As someone who currently drives an old FN2 Type R.. while I wait for Toyota to actually get off their ass and build me a Supra.. the new Type R is positively hideous.

Even if the Honda design team got it right, The Type R is always going to be a car of compromises. Sure it might be more practical but the Supra trades that for enhanced performance. And Honda is still peddling front wheel drive..

Finally, I can't help but mention that all YouTube "content creators" are just opinionated morons.. who happen to have cameras.

I think Honda should have tagged this one as the new Acura Integra. No way, I'd give Honda $50k for a Civic. I'm sure they will sell.

Oh, do people actually say "CTR"? ?

while the FL5 is the better drivers track toy stock, I would still take the MT Supra, more fun on the street, but I did love the FK8, amazing shifter feel, quick as hell, just a little ugly with the fake carbon and wings, the new FL5 is awesome I would def add one to the collection if I could!

lol wtf is this .... just view farming now .... not even a comparison

Question is can this new type-R handle the track in stock form without overheating like the previous generation does

I had the new civic for a year as a family car and it was really great want this type-r eventually

Without really digging into it... if you take the price of the 2000 Honda Civic Type R, convert yen to USD, then estimate for inflation, that would be *about* $30,000. So yeah.. the new CTR is kinda pricey.

Way I see it, their right. Most type r dudes probably have no other car and if they did they ain’t got enough cheese to buy a M3. Never drove one, never had a need to, is a small dick energy car for me ??‍♂

"Useable/practical" aren't reasons anyone buys a sportscar. You know what is MORE practical? A minivan. I hate reviewers who lean on the useable/practical angle. Why are you reviewing a sportscar then? Also, the civic isnt special enough to be your primary car either lol
It's like ppl buying it and bitching about the cupholder...tf? Maybe you meant you wanted a bmw BMW...maybe Mercedes gtfoh with cup holder complaints on a sports car, lol.

I always tell myself ignore this or that cause sports car. Helps me not gaf about the little annoyance that dont matter cause sports car.

I think it's easy to compare them when you are looking at sticker prices since the supra comes about 10-14k more. But markups on the supra are minimal to a few thousand where as a Type R is just insane. 10k-20k markups. If they were the same price I'd go supra. If you could get them for sticker i'd prob buy the Type R.

I've been cross shopping them, Type R looks so good in person but no dealer would sell them without a massive markup.

I’ve owned both and I’m at 380whp on the ctr and the car isn’t a joke. Made fun of the type r for years for being fwd til I drove one. It’s kinda crazy how it excels far beyond its price point hence why they hold their value so well and sell for way above Msrp new. The supra definitely is pretty to look at and is faster and I’m sure will be a future classic but for some reason I get more excited when I drive the type r. Granted I did have a auto supra that I traded for a manual M2 CS! Waiting for the right time to get a manual supra most likely the last model year
