haha. I was half joking. I do have a pipe like this and I do call it the destroyer because honestly I think it has done more hurt than good. Lots of snapped bolts and busted knuckles. haha.

I use a cordless high torque dewalt for garage and track use. I bought it in 2016 for $325 and it's been worth every penny.

One thing to keep in mind with these high torque tools. Don't get your ears close and/or use ear plugs. It will make your ears ring.

Also shy away from using it on aluminum casing. My dumbass used it on a transmission bolt once and it cracked the case. :-/
Honestly - that's one reason I've not gone to far down the breaker bar road - As I've gotten older (ok 62 is not THAT old) I tend to shy away from things that can hurt me!!! LOL

There is no reason they needed an impact to put your lug nuts/wheel bolts on.

Impacts have saved me so much misery - I love them.

I have a big heavy corded Dewalt impact gun that gets used to remove/install lug nuts if needed.

I don't use it much since I bought this now - which removes anything that I have.

Then I have tons of impact sockets, extensions, wobble extensions etc.

If the lugs/bolts on the Supra are torque down correctly, the small impact can get them off no worries.

If you are removing wheels a lot, you should be making sure they are torqued correctly, I bought this to aid in that - basically private label Snap On, made in USA.

Yeah - I agree - and this is the ONLY thing that I've found fault with them but it's really peeved me off. And it's for sure NOT the 104 ft/lbs called for. That being said - a nicer - more powerful impact will be a good thing - love tools!!!

I'll be dealing with this over the weekend. Luckily I'll have my impact so can hold the socket on place.
So the OEM bolts have shallow heads, like a flywheel bolt?
I think it's a combination of the bolt head and the recess in the wheel. Together - at least for me - the lug wrench does not stay seated as well as one other vehicles i have or have had. I do have a thin wall deep socket that Fits better but I can't use it with my socket set cause I can't get them broke loose - oh the pain and agony of it all LOL

Ah. I was gonna ask if the socket were thin walled. I have to use 1/2" drive socket on the end of an impact gun or the breaker/jack handle. I have a ton of tools that are only good for one thing... but man.. they are so necessary LOL

Yeah - I have a 1/2 impact socket as well but the small impact wrench i have won't budge - I have porter cable 450 ft/lb arriving tomorrow. Hopefully that will break them loose and then I can use lug wrench or my thin wall socket and ratchet. But yeah - i have several tools - especially in my wood shop - that are only good for like one thing :) as well!

Speaking of tools with only one job, though you could use them for more, get yourself some protected sockets. No sense jacking your wheels up while using the impact. Thereā€™s a number of different brands that make them.

Those in particular are GearWrench. Think Snap-onā€™s website might have them. Other sites probably would as well. But you can find sockets like that on Amazon, at Harbor Freight, many different places and brands.

They should be torqued by hand with a torque wrench irrespective of whether or not they are removed regularly.

I use heat shrink on my wheel sockets.
Never thought of that - that's why I love this forum - so many outside the box ideas!
