Was able to get it out by wedging a flathead in far enough to release the black clip from the indented edge. Maybe some of yours weren't down far enough making it slip off easy.

Anyway finished product looks solid, might make some adjustments this weekend to the edge where the boot meets the knob but overall looks good. Reattaching the lower trim ring was the worst part by far. We'll see how well it holds up over the summer.

Now, how about a short shifter for the MT? Like OP mention, there is nothing wrong with the knob. However, the throws are a bit long. Specially 1st to 2nd gear.

Funny how some are reporting that their shift knobs are just falling off with minimal effort and you’re having trouble pulling it off. Do you even work out, my dude?
Mine took a good 15-20lbs pull to remove the first few times but then it became quite easy. I'm guessing something stretched with all the times I removed it to take measurements.

Looks good and very oem like too. I want something that fills it up a bit more but this is definitely an alternative if Swedit doesn't get back to me.

Even the BRZ I used to own came with shorter throws. I reached out to ECS Tuning/Tuner Motorsport about this back in January but they don't know of a local Supra that they can bring to their shop and work on. The M2/M4 short shifters they make might work on our transmissions but they can't do test fits if there's no car. If anyone is local to them and doesn't mind letting them do some testing, please reach out to them.

I'm working on this for the Supra.

Working with the best of the best for BMW short shifters.

I should have some prelim answers in a few months time.

If there's anything I can help with feel free to reach out at any point. I even considered taking a vacation trip during summer just to let the guys from ECS play around with my car and maybe even help them out with any design work.

I appreciate it!

And as someone who's dealt with ECS for years, I would stay clear lol

Good to know. I am new to the BMW world and just reached out to the first group that I found that sold short shifters.

Installed the Black Forest Industries Air GS2 knob today.

I reused the factory shift boot. You can see where I cut it at on the knob. If you are going to reuse the factory boot, I would try and cut at the same location. All shifts are good except for 6th is a little taught on the boot. It is not going to cause any issues but if I had any less of the boot it may have.

I haven't driven with it yet. Quality feels excellent, happy with the look and feel of it so far.

I'm bouncing back and forth between Raceseng and Black Forest trying to make a decision, but can you answer what color GS2 AIR that is supposed to be? I see black on the website but yours almost looks gray. Thanks!

it is black. Flash makes it look lighter than it is.

Raceseng, more options to choose from. I did replace my set screws with stainless steel ones cuz I'm picky but other than that very happy with how things came out.
