I’m so glad I just bought a mint mk4...Toyota needed to act alone on this one and not partner up with BMW. There must be some restrictions that have been placed on Toyota by bmw. However, it will still be a nice car, just not worthy of the Supra name.

So many people say this as if Toyota doesn't know this car has huge shoes to fill, and as if they have personally driven the car production car to make that determination

How long have you owned/driven and enjoyed a Supra?

Give or take 6 years, and I still drive my uncle's mk3s from time to time
Good then it should be easy for you understand why an toyota design / powerplant is much liked for a halo Toyota car than mixing it with a BMW and losing the pure JDM experience of the car.

Aite, boys, I'm stepping in here yet again. Keep going at each other's throats and I'll keep the banhammer hot and ready. News flash, you're not changing anyone's opinions on the internet, that's just how the internet works. Keep it civil, please.

I have said it time and time again that I think it is stupid it is a combined project with BMW, but I have moved passed that and have started focusing on what this car means and not the false sense of pride the name gives me

I never said I’ve driven it. I just believe it should have been a 100% Toyota exercise when producing their halo car.

Oh come on Guff, it's been pretty good discussion. At least no one has been offending anyone else....right? The second someone does, I say push the ban button!! It's been good discussion so far...

I was just saying since you couldn’t understand why people were saying that.. everyone is different and their meaning of Supra / halo car from Toyota. So.. obvisouly you’d see a difference of opinions here.

I understand the frustration with the BMW collab, not with calling it something other than a Supra based off zero specs we have of the car

Calling each other "Half baked turds" is not good discussion. I seriously don't have time to clean up this thread right now, so I'm just telling you guys to act like adults so I don't have to deal with yet another dozen pages of cleanup. It's almost a weekly thing at this point.

JDMuscle, I think Toyota's "fail" on this project was the use of the Supra nameplate to be honest. Had this car been called something else, it would be welcomed with open arms even if it had a Yugo motor in it. The problem that we enthusiasts see is that the Supra nameplate means a whole lot of things....things this new car doesn't seem to posses. I think if we take out that Supra name factor from all this, it makes the car a bit more palatable. I agree, so far Toyota has shown us NOTHING to be impressed about this car. We can get the same if not better performance from a 100% JDM 370Z for less money. If Toyota truly thought that the Supra name would bring in an extra $15k to $20k compared to it's competition, they will be in for a big surprise. I still feel there is more to this car at it's price tag, Toyota can't be that stupid to price it similarly to a Z4 and be less of a performer all for the sake of the Supra name....or could they???

I just chuckled out loud in the office at this....haha...sorry.

I honestly just skip through the name calling posts now. Other than that, these are legit points being posted from both sides of the pond...no?

Hey hey.. I’m never the one that calls names unless I’ve been called something first. Guff you know this.. I typically try to squash it.
