You guys need to drive a sweet electric mini suv daily like me so that when you get in the Supra, you remember driving a vehicle can still be fun and noisy.

Holy crap youāve done your homework! This is so spot onā¦. The Supra is so capable on track. Itās really the driver. Thatās an obvious one and will make you fast as hell on track. And no arguments on other crap for making this car āmore fun.ā I have a custom JB4 map for in town fun (can turn it off and on - so cool), SPL parts to feel every damn pebble on the road, a loud ass exhaust to make my wife proud, and a catless dp so she can breath freely - helps in Florida heat. When I was younger I threw mods and wrench time at my cars. I love spinning wrenches, and I learned a lot about working on cars. I really did some really fun mods to my cars, but everything I did lacked a clear direction.
I got into SCCA Auto-X and actually ended up undoing several of the mods I had done to my car at the time. Even then I ended up a complete novice in STU class getting my ass stomped. Driving the car fast in a competitive environment was a real eye opener about wasting money on useless shit.
The modifications I'm making to my Supra now are specifically to improve performance on track for HPDEs and eventually time attack (maybe).
First and foremost, I'm buying seat time and professional instruction. I'm spending way more time and money on that than any modifications to the car. I've done several events with the car completely stock and fried the tires and brakes.
Right now I'm doing some of the least glamorous mods possible on my Supra, but these mods will make it more suitable for repeated track days. Pads, brake fluid, better motor oil, sway bars, wheels, SPL parts for camber/caster adjustability in front and toe control in the rear. All of this so I can run 275 square 200tw tires that I can rotate. I'm not lowering it. It has the stock exhaust and intake. It has no aesthetic mods, nor any interior mods other than coding out some of the really annoying crap (fake engine noise, etc.).
The excitement of driving on track keeps the car extremely exciting and fresh. The Supra is a beast in motorsports. Greatest of all, no speeding tickets on the track or the strip.
I only have a JB4 custom piggyback tune for 93 octane and itās great! Jesse can dial up or down the power to your desire. With the stock tires, thereās very little grip. But Iād rather have the power and modulate the pedal to desired effect ?So a day after I made this post I ended up buying a Mazda 3 hatchback as a daily and it has definitely eased my stress of driving the Supra to work every day. The Mazda is a neat little car but the contrast between it and the Supra is immense haha, you can feel why itās 2x the cost.
i have been leaning towards lately, skipping a catback exhaust for now and doing catless dp+femto unlock+ots tune. I think this is most economical way to get what Iām looking for out of this car. Cat backs are so damn much $$$ lol.
Can anyone comment on a 93 octane ots tune on stock tires? Do I need to upgraded at least the rears to not be in spin city?
Visconti tuned 93 here.So a day after I made this post I ended up buying a Mazda 3 hatchback as a daily and it has definitely eased my stress of driving the Supra to work every day. the ideal amount of power is 50hp more than what ever you haveNice! Yeah I am really trying to be like you and drive it stock longer and do mods one at a time so I can enjoy each one more, but like I said damn it's hard not to go hog wild right off the rip lol.
Power wise I am not looking for anything crazy, or at least I say that now who knows. But the car is already fast to me stock, I just want to get from "this thing is quick" to "holy shit it's fast" which I think upper 400s whp will be the ticket.
Respectfully disagree. lol.the ideal amount of power is 50hp more than what ever you have
Yes and no.the ideal amount of power is 50hp more than what ever you have
I just bought the exact oil, any difference, like is the engine any quieter, less tappy!!!This is why, now that it has MHD, the car will never be taken to the dealership for ANYTHING. In fact, I just paid for an oil change yesterday. I switched to 5x30 Liqui Moly.
I donāt notice a damn thing. Iām just told itās safer (thicker) for the hot demands on trackI just bought the exact oil, any difference, like is the engine any quieter, less tappy!!!

Same. I swapped mine back in November.I donāt notice a damn thing. Iām just told itās safer (thicker) for the hot demands on track![]()
I don't even run the car that hard really but since I'm unlocking my ecu now and going with MHD tune I figured the thicker oil can't hurt.Same. I swapped mine back in November.
I'm going to do another oil change with the Liquid Moly before my real track days begin in May.
