What state are you in? In many states, it’s almost guaranteed you get a new motor for such low mileage and a need for a tear down.
I live in wy. If the Cylinder doesn't have scoring I could honestly see the dealer trying to throw a piston or piston/rod assembly in there and see if it seals up. I would hope if the dealer sees scoring they would just replace it, because they would be money ahead.

Update: my ‘21 goes in for new pistons and rings in a week after I got a low oil warning at only 774 miles after it being topped up. This follows about one and a half years of going through oil too quickly.

Putting my hands up here and admitting that I know close to nothing about engines, although I’ve been trying to do my homework. Is there anything I should be asking them about/for during the warranty work? I understand I should be concerned about scores cylinders or nah?

Thanks!
774 total miles or after the last oil change?

Yes tell them to stick the piston and ring solution where the sun don't shine. You should be getting a replacement short block at the very least and in reality a complete long block engine. 98% of dealer mechanic simply don't have the skills or the practice to do this type of rework anymore.

21 Supra 3.0 premium bought used with 9500 miles on it just had warning show up to add 2 quarts at 13700 miles. Unfortunately, I tried checking the engine oil level and it fails every time. I have looked into this and people have stated that sometimes the electronic dipstick will not work if the oil is above a certain temp. I have allowed the car to cool down and still not functioning properly. Looks like I will be going to get the car serviced again.

I swear my car lives at the dealership as I just had my whole rack and pinion replaced as the steering would squeak after the car warmed up. 😭

Man it shouldn’t be that way. I’ll try and find that screen on mine today and “test” it, lol. So weird no dipstick!

I’ve said this on other threads but it applies here too. If you can find an independent BMW mechanic, I’ll think you’ll be a lot happier. I sure am. Mine would just tell me what I’m doing wrong over the phone or to swing by real quick. He sure makes my ownership experience way better. Less down time and more time enjoying the car.

Good luck brother 🤞

Everyone paying attention to this thread, please see my thread on this same issue.

Long story short, Toyota is replacing my 2021 AT for a 2023 AT at no additional cost due to this issue and me using the Lemon Law in my state. You may want to look into this if you feel it's at the dealer more than in your possession.

Does the car show a message if the oil level is at minimum without forcing the check manually?

Not sure who that question was for, but in my case, the message would pop up randomly during driving it. Started around 5k miles, I purchased it used at 3k miles. Been having the issue ever since maybe getting the message every 800-1200 miles.

Wow thats insane! A good deal though in the end. I have my car currently at the dealership and I hope the dealer isn't gonna say oh just keep an eye on it and then have me go on my way.

I bought my 21 back in December with 5k miles, and the first 5k I burned no oil in the winter. Spring came and burned 1 quart at 3.5k miles, and now I’m at 2k miles on 5w-30 liquimoly and burned another quart from 13.5-16.5k miles. If I bring it into the dealer I’m not sure if they can even do anything about this. I topped off at 16k and the gauge moved to half at 630 miles(hard driving, multiple high speed runs). Is this normal or should I bring it in? What can Toyota do for me?

Measure the oil with normal driving for 20 mins then measure oil. Do this 3 times to make sure your average oil levels. Dont use sport mode or do hard driving when measuring oil.

Follow the book - 30 min driving to measure like any BMW engine. Your burn rate is in spec. The measurement sensors are also a known occasional problem. I check once a week.

If I measure the oil when I just finished driving it’s really hard in sport mode, can that throw a wrong reading? How accurate is it? It said I was at half a quart after 630 miles when I topped off but I put 1/4 quart in and it went back to MAX
