I made this thread in the hopes people can share their bad or good experience with said turbo's. I'm hoping to gather enough information to help put each turbo on pedestal for reliability. Whether be it for bad or good. Data logs are always welcome to have an idea where the turbo stands in handling boost and reliability and horse power as well. I'm hoping to cover hybrid turbo's, but top mount turbo's as well.

It would also help to mention where the turbo is being used. How much power you're pushing. What type of tune you have.

As it stands right now DAW is currently the most reliable hybrid turbo.

I have linked a thread made by @razorlab of hybrid turbo's. It lists each turbo's diameters and calimed hp rating. Should be helpful with this thread. Giving off an idea about each turbo.

Hybrid turbo sizes: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/hybrid-turbo-sizes.15424/

Thank you for everyone for taking their time in helping with the thread.

It's hard to vote on this, because you're asking to compare a bunch of hybrids with large-frame turbos.

DAW is currently the reliability winner from what I've seen, thought FP Green is promising.
Yeah I agree it's hard to compare. Unfortunately I can't create two polls or I would have, separating the two. Any suggestions to fix this? Keep it purely hybrid?

Ehh. No reason to change it. Let's get some discussion going.

Getting DAW installed soonish so will come back to this thread later and post my experience. Looks like a good read when people start posting their experiences :)

Not knowing much about turbo upgrades. I’m more concerned about how well the B58 (seals, internal parts, etc…), handles the increase in boost. Is there data collected from these turbos geared towards a smooth curve/consistent delivery of boost vs whether the turbo itself shits the bed?

Edit: At the root of it. While one turbo may be voted more reliable than the other. In my mind that itself takes a back seat to the potential issues/consequences of upgrading the turbo in the first place.

The title and the question are two different things..
More people talk about pure hinting that more people buy it as it's cheaper yet everyone says they're crap and goes bad.
Good experience with pure? Yes, until they blow it up. Lol

Reliability also depends on tune and boost and DD vs drag vs track vs I only do massive burnouts..

Fair enough. I'll reframe the thread a bit. To make it more clear. I'll add in the bits you mentioned.

But that's the thing with pure. I was planning on getting one, but now that I've seen a bunch of people complain about it. I dont think so.

Papadakis Racing has a 4 part series on this doing a whole b58 teardown and pushing it to 1000hp with mainly stock internals. He does change the Rods and Pistons and bore out the cylinders a bit though. He explains in depth everything you'd like to know in those videos, worth the watch. Link to part 1 below:
