Pure turbo reliability concerns

Hey fellas, Has anyone heard of or experienced reliability issues with Pure Turbos? I was recently at a local shop getting a few mods done and a conversation we had was what my next modification would be. I mentioned perhaps pure800 or pure850 and my local shop said to wait for the moment as the shop has had to replace 3 different pure turbos ranging from 1k miles to 2.5k miles, all from A90’s. All three turbos with blown oil seals and bearings. Looking at one of the blown turbo in his shop, I could see the internals drenched in oil and plenty of play from the turbine shaft. Fortunate for these customers the turbos are all still within warranty but the fact that their cars were disabled until a replacement turbo or rebuilt turbo was sent really stinks. I’m kinda disappointed to learn of the reliability issues as this was something I was looking forward to upgrade. Let me know what you guys think or have heard.

If your worried about reliability, stay with the Oem turbo and call it a day. Anything aftermarket even using an Oem core will have some issues! Once you go aftermarket, be ready to have some failures and etc It happens….

Going bad in that short timeframe is unreal though.

No concern with Pure kits, they are top-notch and we sold hundreds of their turbos without any issue.

Failures happen with any brand, also consider that a large number of customers that upgrade their turbo tend to push the car to its limit which causes failures in some cases.

Get a conservative tune and you can enjoy the extra power without a significant failure risk
