Not a Corvette.
Not to curse myself, but I always never grab the actual arm of the socket wrench when tightening oil bolts in aluminum pans. I only tighten from the center.

Yeah, I’ll be able to remove it. I stopped tightening right when I felt it go “soft” as I rotated.

Yeah, I’ll be able to remove it. I stopped tightening right when I felt it go “soft” as I rotated.
Could also just have been debris on the crush washer.. i'd just take the bolt out and bite the bullet and see what you're looking at... I cant imagine dropping the oil pan is that big a pain on this car... my M3 oil pan was pretty easy when I did my S55 crank hub.

Was the subframe in the way?

yeah 100%.... I cant think of a car that doesn't have a subframe directly under the oil pan. On the M3 I just took the subframe and motor mounts loose and supported the engine with a support beam on the strut towers and let the sub frame sag down.. drops 4-5" and provides adequate room to get the pan off.
