ahh, another "squid goes fast, cars slow" type of thinking. Keep searching because ain't nothing going to make you happy.
You’re half right, I don’t believe the Supra will make me happy. It’s possible nothing will in my constraints.
For the other half, you don’t know me and calling me a squid doesn’t make me wrong. Your feelings hurt? I’m happy to share the bikes with you on a track day if you can demonstrate the ability to handle them safely. Busy this summer around New England?

Talking this out did give me my problem statement and so has been valuable.

I want to share near-super bike acceleration in a modern car with friends and family. It must run on pump gas, have A/C and decent stereo. ;)
How would you do that for $100,000ish?

Dollars and cents as well as reliability, never build a car that you can buy. If the Supra no longer brings you joy then sell and move along. Dramatics smack of trolling.

Thank you, I was hoping I could build something I couldn’t afford outright. Super car dollars are a long ways off!
Fast, Reliable, Cheap, pick two rule always applies.

This thread started off messy since I didn’t have a clear problem statement. I’m not trolling, I admitted at the start my perception of speed was warped. There’s no ego here, it wasn’t until folks believed their cars were fast that I made it quite clear with conservative assumptions just how far off these cars are from bikes.

I have a clear problem statement, the forum owes me nothing, and I did derive value from the exercise. The Supra is just as beautiful as the day I drove it home, maybe it’s time to part ways. I appreciate everyone’s input, especially the critics.

I was half joking. I call all riders squids because it always triggers them. ?

If you want near super bike acceleration out of a car under $100k with 93 octane, something v8 and light with forced induction would be it. ZL1’s are heavy boat anchors.

996 Porsche turbo as well maybe but Porsche tax.

I am on my second 2021 Supra. First one had 609 who on 93 with a pure 850 and 650cc meth. Second one and current has 520whp on 93 and 650cc of meth and both are anything but slow, what are you talking about??
I’m thinking about going this route if I decide on a Supra. Have you dragged it? Curious what your 1/4 mile time is. I’m guessing 10 in the quarter.

get the ZL1. just know there's a great difference between the ZL1 and 1LE, so i'd say test drive a ZL1 before deciding. i understand your perception of speed is ruined, so i advise adding a different element to the car: get a manual.

I dragged my current Supra with 520whp. Arrived super late to the drag strip so left the tires at 33 psi, Toyo’s 888 305/30/19 so car was like I used it in the street. Launched in 2nd, tires spinned until I shifted to 3rd.

11.4 @ 127. Only did 2 passes.

With a better launch and/or tires car should runs 10s

My opinion, for the money you pay for the car and how easily and cheap you can get 500whp out of these cars, it doesn’t get better than this.

What are your mods? Just curious. Thank you for the reply. 11.4 sec run is no slouch.

OP wants a car that runs like a bike and dimisses any suggestions by people with experience building the Supra. Might as well let this thread die, dude is just here to argue and whine.

Yes, I want bike-“like” for as cheap as possible in a modern (safe) car.
The only dismissing I do of folks who have commented on building is the single biggest constraint I give, and everyone’s dismissal of it…Eblends and meth. Not a single “builder” here has offered a high HP solution on 93oct because they know it’s expensive and very difficult, it takes over-building and ultimately chemistry and physics limit how far 3 liters can go on 93oct. Have you or anyone here provided a maximum effort 93oct build? What you call “whining” is my hope dying and realization that I need a much larger displacement car to meet my goals.

Appreciate the guidance. I will definitely take the manual to increase engagement with the car. That 10spd is amazing in auto but every review I’ve watched show the paddles being extremely slow especially on downshift, if only it had a ZF in it! ;)
