Do you guys think doing a partial unlock will ever become more affordable and be done in the US?

I bet @Carl - Driveway Labs partnered with them! Lmao

Nobody that ACTUALLY did this would sit on it with the demand. Anyone that states “oh, we totally did it but are waiting a bit because of some other focus” is 1000% full of crap.
I have a uselessly unlocked dme that Mega3 won't give out the bootloader and other keys needed for me to use with any tuning suites.

so basically I feel like I got played for a year of my time, effort, money spent supporting it and nothing usable to show for it.

I'm sending mine over to femto when I make time to overwrite whatever is on my dme so I can use it with bm3 because I have goals for my car

Safa at mega3 is super nice, very intelligent, very capable. I just don't know what he's doing day To day and he doesn't seem very focused on attaining certain goals

Ok so I buy a new Supra and I want to start modding it. I have to send the computer overseas to have it unlocked so I can start tuning my car? What’s the down time for this?
8-10 days typically.

I have my car unlocked with the customROM by BM3 - going to add the flex fuel module by them as well eventually.

If you are in any state where emissions is validating the checksum of your ECU, you need to look into tuning more as most of them will change the checksum, or if you flash back to stock will not return the checksum to the OEM value - your only alterantive at that point is to get a reflash/lock from Toyota and then do the Femto send off all over again.......OR get a secondary ECU and run ECUTEK.

that said, I know it's unlocked because mhd and bm3 both see that it's unlocked. Their software just doesn't have the keys loaded in to be able to write the new files into the dme

Bricked my dme testing mhd and Safa was able to unbrick it same day so it was all a successful test.

I'd personally take guaranteed millions over a few Mclaren builds that barely pay the bills but I have a different mind with different goals

Man. Things have certainly changed. BaCk In My DaY bricked meant 'turning a device into a brick' in which it will never be usable again. A literal brick. We used that term in the hardware engineering space to differentiate between 'rip fuck, throw it in the trash' and 'oops.'
it just means it was a failed write and it needs to get rolled back to a previous version. Otherwise it doesn't work and is a "brick"

I know what you mean tho, like when we used to fry hard drives or the early days of ripping cell phones.

tech has evolved faster than my ability to keep up

Same with me but "now-a-days" its quite hard to really "brick" something unless its literally breaking a piece of hardware in the process somehow. Given the way bootloaders work and how cheap space is vs the cost of bricking something having the boot image and "golden flash" image space is invaluable. Beyond that, the ability to JTAG or whatever to load images directly its impressive.

I honestly can't remember the last time I truly bricked something I've been working on, but most of them I have access to the full source/hw.

That being said 1.9 weeks now!

I’m a little confused on the unlocked vs partial unlocked ecu’s. If I’m wanting to go fully modded on a build what’s the best route to go. When I say fully modded I mean flex fuel turbo coolers fuel pumps etc. Sorry guys I’m really new to this but I’m fascinated.

Unlimited budget: Fully unlocked gives you access to Ecutek tuning if you want it.

Budget build: Partial get's you most of what ecutek does minus Reflex integration and some other bells and whistles (if you go with BM3)

Additionally for ecutek at the moment you need a donor DME from an unlockable year (before June 2020) that they can clone your current DME onto as well as unlock.

There was a guy on Reddit claiming he cracked the 2021+ ecu in the Supra subreddit forums. Said he was out of one of the Carolina’s and would do it for half price. I think he ended up deleting it after someone told him to get a lawyer before he did anything.

So who holds the security keys that prevent access/bench unlock for post 6/20 ecus? Bosch or Bosch and BMW/Toyota?
