am i alone in hoping there's a mistake and the cognac interior isn't available? i thought it was special only being available for the A91 MTs (in the US)..

and the 45th being $64375???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
It's only "special" in the US. Other markets already had it as a choice. But special models sell in the US, so milk the consumer first year. Then available after. Same with the launch edition red seats.

As far as im aware I have never seen a car go through so many changes in one generation ever. From 2020 till now they had pretty big changes every year i dont know if its to make a model year feel special than other but so far they seem to have been getting rid of more favorable choices by the year… but hey we wanted some colored interior so now they give a tan leather like youd find in a lexus sedan or suv that people daily drive, god forbid they put back a red interior on a sport car🤷🏽‍♂️. My only regret was not being able to afford the yellow all these years my only hope now is they bring a normal orange premium for 2025 like the ones japan got but who knows wtf to expect with Toyota
What do you mean normal orange japan got? Mikan blast is the same orange that's releasing I'm japan.

I don't buy it. At the end of the day even a "halo car" has to do some work. If the car isn't adding to their bottom line in some way, then it's going to be nixxed very quickly.
Toyota/Lexus have made cars at a loss in the past a la LFA. Just to show they can and to bring attention to them. Bringing the surpa back puts their GR division in the spot light. Now look at all the GR models there are and the more watered down GR Sport models now available.

Personally wouldn't have paid much attention if they kicked of GR promotions with the Yaris.

Like the plasma orange they showed a couple months ago that they only made 100. I dont even know if this is the same color orange with different name but they had a normal 3.0 premium plasma orange without that stupid wing and decals thats what i would like for 2025

I'm fairly confident that the LFA is an example of a large corporate misstep, not a valiant attempt to make a halo car at a massive loss!
Either way the sales numbers show they aren't profiting from this venture, not in any meaningful way. And the sales are overestimating because there are plenty of customers who want the car and can't get it... Toyota (via Magna-Steyr) are hindering production. Toyota could sell more, they just choose not to.

It's the same orange, and they announced it for a 2024 model year (or equivalent) in Japan, it hasn't gone on sale yet there either.

Pretty sure it's a different name for the same color. Most of the colors in Japan are named differently for the same color.

Some Supra colours in Australia are named after race tracks. Nitro yellow = Silverstone Yellow.

Maybe it'll be Osaka Orange lol.

well, as disappointing as the 45th edition is, and now throw on the price increase. the only option that looks exclusive to the 45th to "justify" the cost is the heads up display.

unless its another typo on the build sheet that is.
i wish the HUD displayed RPMs, since not, i find it relatively useless
Not really. It's just a regional thing. I have a Strat Blue AT with cognac interior.
i said in the US.

There's flooding the market profit and then there's selling 5K/annually profit..

These companies are about making profit, you are correct. But if profit at all cost is the only thing these companies cared about, they'd only sell pickups and CUV's, there would be no Corolla, Camry, Supra, GR86, etc, etc.

Much like Porsche, they use their big profit/big sales products to fund the things that they are more passionate about (sports cars). That doesn't mean that they don't make money on those things, just that it's not the ONLY reason why they exist.

My take is that the Supra really is a halo car of sorts for them, and halo cars don't need to sell well or be profitable on their own to benefit the brand. Brands rely a lot on mindshare. At least historically you'd get a lot more media exposure and bumps in mindshare with a sports car vs a run of the mil people hauler.

I've got similar takes on the GR86 and GR Corolla. Those eat up a lot of development cost and are low volume, but they also certainly help put the brand on the map in an interesting way. So it's a net benefit for them even if they lose money/break even on the individual models.

Totally agree. It's gets eyes on the brand and butts in the doors. Which in turn creates sales for not only those products but all their mainstream offerings also.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Everything any successful company does is by nature, profit driven. EVERYTHING. You have to look at their strategy holistically though. If Toyota builds Supras, they're profiting from it. Be it directly through sales or by improving the perception of their brand. Perhaps even simply providing a way to artificially sportify their many boring ass cars makes the Supra worthwhile. I mean that GR logo is on every fucking model these days. Why.. because it lets Joe Average in his shitty Toyota make a deep seated connection to the "halo" GR car he will never be able to own.

You think Ferrari is in F1 for the prize money?
You think Apple donates to flood victims because they're inherently altruistic?
You think Google collects its data about us because its got our best interests at heart?

It's ALL profit driven, even if you can't see or understand how or why. Car companies serve shareholders: Not owners; not enthusiasts and certainly not "passionate individuals" inside the company itself.

It's all a ruse. A clever lie. Just marketing designed to hide the corporate hands grasping at your hard earned cash.

Much like Porsche, they use their big profit/big sales products to fund the things that they are more passionate about (sports cars). That doesn't mean that they don't make money on those things, just that it's not the ONLY reason why they exist.
Again, you couldn't be more wrong. You actually have it back to front. The ONLY reason these cars exist is because they help the company's bottom line in some (perhaps esoteric) way.

You're applying car enthusiast fanboy thinking to an exclusively profit driven multinational corporation.

WAKE UP!

And.. sorry to burst your bubble but countries outside of the USA exist who care more about small cars than your massive pick-up pieces of shit. As an aside, the USA didn't miss out on the GR Yaris because Toyota wasn't "passionate" about it lol, you missed out on it because the bean counters at Toyota worked out there was no money in it! I mean, duh.
