Gotchya. Will add all of that to my spreadsheet. ??

Project Mu Club racers. 95% of the performance of CSG and less than half the price.

Used them when I was stock power and still use them with Pure700 power.

I've been using Endless brake fluid with the supra but have used SRF in the past without issues.

Which CSG pads did you use previously? - I used some C21's for a bit and they were just amazing for control but really expensive overall to maintain

I have been trying some DTC 70s and they are fine just do not work nearly as well as CSG pads but are way better for wear and cost overall

I can get those club racer pads for almost a third of the cost of CSG pads I will have to try them

+1 would also be interested.

Not to beat on a dead horse but this car really does rotate. I got off track last saturday for the first time I think in 10 years. The track was slick with the drizzle and a corvette that had dumped all 8L of oil on the racing line.

I do lap with VSC/TC fully off (long press) and I am running jb4/dp so the car is extra spicy. Doesn't help that I am on practically destroyed stock PSS. Hopefully once I install RE71rs, I can start getting into the throttle much earlier because anything over 50-60% throttle at this point results in oversteer.
I'm on 275 CRS tires and haven't noticed things being too bad. I make adjustments during driving, but nothing scary. Not so much a rotation thing as traction.
But I will say... On low-speed, tight corners, that rear diff works wonders.

I need driving shoes suggestions. What are your favorites?
I drive the AT version so get to wear regular shoes. ???? My last set were GForce. None are comfortable while walking around, so I'd say get something with the fire rating you need, at the best price.

. Any recommended pads/fluid that'll be an upgrade to stock but not overtly aggressive for the street?
I use Hawk DTC60 until Raybestos makes pads for us. They are fine around town. They don't squeal any more than most pads but may dust more. Track pads just aren't great around town.

I have been trying some DTC 70s and they are fine just do not work nearly as well as CSG pads but are way better for wear and cost overall
Brake pads are always a rotor wear versus pad wear item. If one lasts extra long, the other will suffer. CSG pads eat rotors. As long as you don't mind swapping out rotors and paying the extra for the pads, you're all good.

If you’re eating up rotors too quickly it’s likely that you’re not in the operating temperature range.

The brake pad operating temp range too high for you. Another thing is overcooled brakes.

I recommend brake temp paint, get different temps so you can find out what range you’re in.

Pick the pad that works for you, not what works for the fastest guy. Different driving styles/skill/setup/power level/track require different pads.

Some like high bite, I personally am willing to give up a little bite for better modulation… etc etc.

RE driving shoes - 2 approaches:
- if you don't plan on moving to some kind of racing (time trials, endurance, etc.) that requires fire-resistant shoes, wrestling shoes are your jam. They suck to wear all day, but they have tons of pedal feel. I have a 25 y/o pair of Asics that I bought when I started autocrossing.

- if you do plan on "racing" or just want fire resistance, just about ANY racing shoe will work. Almost all of them are a similar design, but there are certainly wildly varying quality levels. As with the wrestling shoes, they are super thin and suck to wear all day as well.

G-Force branded stuff is good entry level equipment. I've had 2 pairs of Piloti racing shoes, but they've moved out of the "real" racing shoe market with new ownership. I have a pair of AlpineStars SP V2 shoes at the moment, but I bought them from a trackside vendor when my last pair of Pilotis shoes fell apart in the middle of a LeMons race. They're perfectly fine, but not outstanding in any way, especially for $180.
I've been using Puma Driving shoes. It is quite affordable at ranging from $30 ~ $100. This is good for casual track driving.

These days the tread wear rating doesn’t mean anything, plus I am pretty sure @Eyelise was asking about actual shoes you put on your feet ?
That’s hilarious ? I see that now ??‍♂ Thx amigo! I really like a light flexible Puma. Sparco isn’t bad either. Many peeps say try wrestling shoes for flexibility and grip. So I’ve seen that too.

It‘s been at least 10 years ago but I owned a few of those Vibrams Five Finger shoes. Drove em on the track and the race team was cracking up. But they worked better than wrestling shoes.

As far as car shoes ? I did run full slicks on the MX5 & S2K for a bit. The race team got them free from Bridgestone at the time and I got the leftovers. They were practically brand new & amazing! So that was my reference to tread-wear. I believe they were 40 or 50 treadwear. Thinking extremes. Snow tire to full slick for the most grip. Very old fashion indeed. But I do like to look at it for a rough guesstimate of stickiness.

Love Hawks DTC 60s. I probably could dive bomb much easier with the $1000 CSGs. Price ever comes down, I’d like to try them. But the Hawks last me a really long time and great on the rotors, just like you said.

cost vs performance i am fine with the hawk pads they are just a little slower

Turn 5 and 6 at Willow springs using dtc 70s are a good example as I do not have much confidence for me to trail brake compared to the 21s that give me confidence to trail and rotate the car with the brakes through the corner

You can also use carding shoes. No fire protection, but still a driving shoe and a lot cheaper.

I didn't have any problem on that course with my 60s. As mentioned above, a lot of it probably has do with preference. I've had this car on a number of different courses, always had 100% confidence in my pads.
Then again, I have a lot of confidence in this car on stock suspension and OEM alignment. It seems everybody but me says how squirrely the cars are and difficult to control, But I'm finding it very capable.
I think my comfort and confidence meter might be a bit off. Maybe I trust my car and brakes more than I should ?

I don’t feel the car is squirrelly at all either. Just keep winning in your class next to cars that cost 2x as much lol

I just wanted to say how happy it makes me that this thread has been one of the most active lately. I’m glad we’re building a community of people who do motorsport with their Supras. The A90 is too nice of a platform not to go thrash. ❤
Amen to that brother! ??

I wish I could justify the $1000 for pads. Coming from a MX5 and for the sole purpose of comparison shopping against Porsche & others, I really like staying in a decent price range to justify my purchase. And I’m not competing like y’all. Ideally, I’d love to see CSG make their pads more competitively priced.

I'm sure we'll be fine. Trail braking, for me anyway, hasn't been a focus regarding pads. There's very little stress on them and the release characteristics of any name-brand pad should be sufficient. Of course, I haven't tried EVERY pad, but the 5-6 I've used have all done well.
Trust me when I say you and I will do juuuuust fine with the pads we're using. ?
There's a whole other discussion going on about the CSG "cult" LOL. It's weird, but not really; every platform I've owned had it's "go-to part" and when you choose something else, you're brow beaten because you didn't "just go with what everyone knows works".

I'm not sure how well received it is to post these types of topics, but I'll try anyways since we're all here for the same thing.

I'm participating in the race to #ENDALS at Barber Motorsports Park Sept30-Oct 1. All participants have the opportunity to open up a fundraiser to help raise funds for this. If you have the means, consider a donation, or share the link! If you're in the area, feel free to drop by for Ride alongs!

https://www.mightycause.com/story/Y3uzye

I'm not competitive, having a basically stock suspension supra on wheels and tires. I'm just here to help support the people and participate / provide ride alongs.

Don't short yourself! I'm on the same and beating GT4s and full-on race prepped cars. You'll do great.
