So I just got my ecu back, installed it back correctly, connected everything amd started car, no issues, let her idle, no problems.

Connected it to a battery tether, came back, connected back to Bm3, the gonlight was green and I logged in and downloaded the multimap. Started the flash process and it failed at 2%

Clicking noise started coming from the ecu and drive train malfunction. Can't start car anymore. Wtf, any ideas??

I dont understand why it failed at 2%, literally everything was going well. Any other suggestions? I've email bm3 but doubt anyone will reach out to me now.

Did you run an unlock check to make sure it was actually unlocked when received back

The BM3 software just says femto unlock required even if it's unlocked.

You are in diagnastic mode (three press) and have your seatbelt connected when flashing, right?

Yes, diagnostic mode. Using the new v3 dongle. I don't have a cable I went straight for the dongle for ease of use. I wish I hadn't. If I get a cable i'm just going to use a laptop, no more phones. But i'm really concerned the ecu is bricked.

This happened to me - see below:
https://www.supramkv.com/threads/bm3-customrom-is-ready.17785/page-7#post-281914

I ended up using my wifes laptop with BM3 installed on it and the proper connection cable.

I tried using my phone with usb to ethernet adapter and it failed while flashing - car would kick on and die right away.

My issue seems different because I can't seem to read the ecu data anymore. I can't start the car at all, and getting drivetrain malfunction. See attached. Sorry for the image overload.

Same thing happened to me, tried literally everything. Ended up having to go back to FEMTO.

Similar thread here FWIW

EPC reached out to me said it;s likely just bm3 that failed, could be wifi related, etc... going to wait for bm3 and see if they can remote in and see what needs to be done. I didn't flash back to stock so the Femto unlock should still be there. A few deep breathes and positivity until then, lol

Yeah, thatā€™s what happened to me as well. Definitely let it sit if possible and do not flash back to stock.

I had serge and someone else from bm3 remote in several times to try and fix it, unfortunately it happened to both my clone and original dme. They couldnā€™t fix it nor could they tell me what was wrong that caused it.

If you can, get over to Ecutek. Otherwise fingers crossed it works out for you!

Ok, so finally what was the fix? You had to flash back to stock and lose the femto unlock? It was the only fix? Did your car also have the drivetrain malfunction and not start? I got her back on a battery charger now and i'll leave it like that until bm3 can give me some sort of solution.

I had the battery disconnected for the 2 weeks. There's no way it drained in 2 weeks disconnected. I feel like it was wifi issue or bm3 lost connection during the write. Wireless stuff is just a nightmere.

My car lives on a battery tender so a low or depleted battery couldnā€™t have been the issue for me. and yeah, drivetrain malfunction. My car would not start on using either dmeā€™s and was basically down for a week unfortunately until it was flashed back to stock and relocked. Whenever I would try, it just gave me that ticking sound near the dme (that others think is poss a bad fuse but doesnā€™t add up).

Basically BM3 said they couldnā€™t fix it and didnā€™t know how to so both dmeā€™s were flashed back to stock tune and relocked. Louaye with EPC is the man and took both my ECUā€™s back to be unlocked again, no charge. Since I had a clone, I just went straight Ecutek and kept my ā€˜21 ecu stock.

Seriously fingers crossed it works for you. This exact situation has happened to several of us that Iā€™m aware of. Iā€™m no software engineer by any means, but this seems isolated to BM3 and not mhd.. but what do I know.
