I have seen a few threads on this form, and several others, referencing a Gen 1 vs a Gen 2 Supra. Is this just in reference to the B58 engiine? What year does a Gen 1 start and stop vs the Gen 2. What are the differences. thanks

All supras (3.0 models) have a B58 Gen2 (B58TU).

2020 had a B58B30C - 2 port head, 335 hp
2021 + has aB58B30O1 - 6 port head, 382 hp

We could be talking about the MY2020 vs MY2021-2023, which have undergone significant hardware & software changes... That's what I'd consider Gen1 & Gen2 variants..

Can I also confirm the 2023 UK/Europe spec cars run the B58TU with the 2 port head as well? Essentially the same engine as the 2019-2020 cars globally?

Term is confused in general. In a Supra forum you'd expect them to be talking only about Supra. So no Gen 1 B58 in Supra so you'd expect they referring to 2 port vs. 6 port. But that's an assumption. Out in the wild or on BMW forums you might expect they are talking about the engine.

Similar with the whole A90 vs. A91. There's the correct answer and then there's what people mean.

It's not confused. There should never be any discussion OUTSIDE of sourcing a good ECU for a clone.

All Supras are gen2 B58. The 2 port/6 port has nothing to do with it.

Gen 1 B58s are found in BMWs, not supras. There are also Gen 2 B58 BMWs.

The 2-port is better
If by 'better' you mean 'cannot flow as much air' and 'needs to be swapped out for 6 port if you want to win races' you're 100% correct.

There's a reason for these rules:

I have a 2023 UK spec model, and I can confirm the engine fitted is the B58B30C (also known as B58B30M1), and it is a B58TU, the "newer one' or second gen.

Thank you!

On a separate note, do you know if Toyota UK has stopped selling the manual? I asked in the UK section and no one seems to know for sure.

You're welcome, how cool to live in Singapore, I'd love to visit one day.

Yes I saw your question there, it would appear that for the time being, yes it has been discontinued, we seem to generally concur as we've all done our research, having also just checked the website now, still the same, only 2.0 pro AT and 3.0 pro AT are available now.

It was a very short run indeed, just about 1 year, I had the 3rd one in the UK, build date August '22.

I checked on AutoTrader UK, and there's literally 1 or maybe 2 Manual Supras available with little more than delivery mileage, and they seem to be the classic scenario of someone having bought it as an investment and 'marked it up', US style.
