General quick question on tuning

I’ve read the whole post about the 2021 supras and the tuning debacle that the ecu gives.

In short, is it true that all 2020 Toyota Supras are easily tuneable?
I am looking to buy one very soon and just want clear this up so I can look exclusively for any car that’s a 2020 Supra.

All 2020s are tunable, some very early 2021s are, but you have to check the ECU date on those.

Even if the Supra is tunable, it still may need a bench unlock before tuning.

There was a forum post somewhere which shows the firmware version of the dme you want to tune and subsequently tells you whether or not it requires a bench unlock (2019/early 2020 ECU models).

Edit: I’m coming from tuning Subarus so this is mildly confusing/annoying haha.
I just want to be able to run a 91 tune with a DP and possibly an e30 tune is all! Toyota and BMW sure make tuning a real bitch compared to subaru.

All new cars are going to suffer the same fate. It's not a Toyota/BMW things, it's the industry changing. It's done at the hardware level by Bosch.

Yes, can be tuned but may still require bench unlock (2019/early 2020 model).

06/20 upwards ECU = hardware locked.

It's about reading the data on it, not writing to it. They don't give a flying fuck if you put a Haltech in it.

It's all about protecting IP. AI, Self-Driving, autonomous driving, etc.

I believe you have to send your ecu to mother Russia to get it unlocked. In which case no way in hell would I do that!
