I’ve taken my 100% stock Supra into the dealership to advise of the issue.

They told me they couldn’t reproduce the issue so they couldn’t update the system.

After some convincing, I was asking for a system update, not a part to be replaced. It would be the safer and more responsible task to complete (saving both time and money for a future visit if this issue should arise again), they agreed.

I gave them the specific iStep code and updates (and newer update codes since).

They advised they found the specific iStep update I suggested however couldn’t install it. They feel it couldn’t be installed because perhaps I already had a more recent update since the last time I brought it in for the Brake Recall (circa July ‘23)?

Currently awaiting for the throttle hesitation to show its head again. Unfortunately we don’t drive the Supra often so unsure when I’ll have another update to this forum.

I’m also looking for a fix, and it seems advising of intermittent CarPlay connection is the way to go.

Can anybody confirm this does actually work from their experience?
I’m not 100% but if you had your car updated in July 23’ you should have the throttle hesitation fix. It seems the update circa feb 2023 fixed the issue. Sounds promising if you’ve not seen it since?

I have the same 6MT and can confirm. it's a big clunky, but my question is, wouldn't a tune fix this?
I have the a91 mt and i do think on sports mode, the throttle seems a bit more clunky than normal mode. can anyone with a manual confirm this ?
The MTs don't have this throttle hesitation issue, and the following applies to the MT driving experience only. *I've owned an AT, and it doesn't quite respond the same way.

The "clunkiness" you're referring to is because the throttle response is dramatically heightened with SPORT mode activated, resulting in harshness if you're not smooth with your inputs. Honestly, that's the way a sports car throttle should be by default, and in NORMAL mode it strongly dulls the sensitivity, allowing for a smoother driving experience. You'll notice it the most while holding the accelerator at a constant pressure on the highway and switching SPORT mode on and off. It almost feels like 25 HP just disappeared. You'll see what I mean...

I'm still struggling with this myself. Sits at 400rpm and rolls you into oncoming traffic, at which point it gives you everything its got and tries to throw you into the closest hedge. I know this isnt what the "OP" is after but if you're in normal mode and it happens try just pushing the sport mode button. This has helped me out of some tricky spots but even that has stopped working for me now 😭

Yeah I have noticed you can avoid it with sport. I’ve not tried it while it’s having a freak out though…. I’ll give that a try!

Are you on about the manual or auto for a start?

I’m not sure what you’ve been smoking but last time I checked full throttle and the car not moving at all for up to 3 seconds is not a feature. Rolling out into traffic is dangerous.

This and the fact it HAS been fixed and is well documented to have been fixed in the latest iStep by many many users on this forum. It’s a problem with the traction control system, you can actually avoid it doing this by turning TCS off.

Again do some reading before you comment on a thread you clearly know nothing about….

This makes absolute sense. I also heard that once the ECU is unlocked the throttle response also changes correct?

You telling @Dannyvandelft and I to read that throttle hesitation thread like we didn't. The update isn't a fix. Because it still happens after it.
So I should assume because you’ve been on the forum a long time you have ready every bit of text on it?

and I should also assume because you haven’t had your issue solved, that it doesn’t solve it vs the many people that it has fixed it for? Another user with a weird god complex…..

What specific version is your ilevel?

These guys have no respect for OG members. Its well documented as a engine protection feature. If you learn how to drive the car it’s not a problem. They should’ve bought a Camry instead.
