on the German side, it seems like BMW has no interest in renewing the Z4. there's even a rumor that the 4 and 8 will be merged into one model which leaves BMW with only the 2 and 6 replacements. so yeah if true, companies are slimming down on coupe offerings. like it or not, the chocies will be a Lexus platform with a V6 or no Supra at all.

These were made a few years ago, but the two are more or less the same size. When I think of "bloated" my mind goes to GTR. :dunno:

It's not the size when people talk about bloated, it's always the shape. One can be bigger but not looking bloated because of the masculinity. The A90 is actually about 2 inches wider than the A80.

I have no skin in the game. If you want to say the MK5 looks more chisel with shaper lines, then sure I agree. You're right, but that could actually make it appear more chunky to some given that it's shorter in both overall length and wheelbase.

Without BMW onboard, there will be no new Supra. All these insider chatter and rumors are worse than the UFO nutterss. Sorry.. UAP nutters.

I feel the thread is being derailed with the A80 vs J29 side conversation. Therefore, everything relating to that matter has been copied over to the MKIV vs MKV thread. Feel free to continue the debate over there.
Agreed! Thank u.

I completely agree. I suspect the Supra will go on hiatus for a while until something completely new is developed. I certainly don't expect a completely new car will appear as soon as the current model production run ends in 2025.

same, Toyota would probably want all the spotlight on the Lexus version "LFR?" for a good year or two before releasing a new Supra that could potentially steal its limelight.

BMW has pretty much given up the Z4 at this point. No meaningful updates or Z4M and crappy sales have pretty much sealed its fate at this point.

Only because Toyota pushed for it. BMW really couldnā€™t care less about such a low selling product
How did Toyota push for the Z4 to get a manual exactly? You can't have it both ways.. Did Toyota develop the manual independently or did they get BMW to develop it for the Z4 then lift it?

Other than keeping the line open, I think the Z4 trajectory has little impact on the Supra.

Go check out what the bimmerpost insider posted awhile back. BMW did not want to pair a 6MT to the B58. Toyota was the driving force behind the whole thing. Regardless the G29 is on life support and if anyone really believes that itā€™s getting another gen needs a reality check.
