Dealers really have no idea. The whole Toyota ordering system is stupid.

Also, white seems to be the main colour being ordered at the moment. I keep seeing posts on FB from dealers trying to sell their in stock white MY23s. If you don't want to wait, it might be worth doing a ring around.
Cheers. A mid 24 delivery actually works better for me, hence why I'm ordering now. If delays extend past July I'll probably start to look around.

Nice to know your dealer is a Toyota "expert". While ever we laugh this sort of stuff off we'll get the same sort of " expertise".
take it in to a Toyota dealer and watch them fumble around and pretend they know how to work on the car.
There is only 1 GR accredited dude in this workshop, and it took him 4 attempts to get my GPS working.

So I stopped by my local BMW to ask if they would service the Supra. They sent me home within 5 seconds, "No, we don't work on anything other than BMW". So I asked and pointed out the obvious and that was that, I was on my way home.

So I guess I'll bring it to the guys... and hope the GPS was a once off thing. He said the process had changed for the 2023 with an extra step.

But definitely doesn't instill any confidence.

They have a tentative build date of late next month for my Red Manual
You'll know by mid, 15th-20th, the following month if it was built. But once those estimated build dates start coming through, you're close!!

Got a call from my dealer muppet last Friday at 4:45PM, timed like a bad news government press release. They have a tentative build date of late next month for my Red Manual GTS with leather seats for probable/possible delivery late January. IF that comes off it will be 13 months since ordering. I asked him why fellow Aussies were taking delivery after 9 months ( I was promised 6-9 months wait) and had ordered at the same time as me and he waffled on for bit with rubbish. As for Toyota Australia well they are even worse than the dealer with coms. So the sales side is useless and the tech side are pretty much incompetent. Looks like a great ownership experience on the way. Lucky my cars never see the dealership again after I take delivery.

Phil
If you simply can't wait any longer there is a brand new Red Manual with Black leather sitting in the Wollongong dealership. It's sitting in amongst all the dealers desks like it's in a gilded cage while all the 'lesser' Toyotas sit outside in the rain. Pretty sure it's not a demonstrator either as they wouldn't allow me to test drive.

"Toyota Moorooka You?"
I confirmed that was my yellow Supra in the background of your shot :) Small world!
I asked what tow company they were using for your deal and my salesperson was reluctant to offer the same to me. He advised technically they are not allowed to deliver via car carrier due to issues with on selling etc. Not sure if that's really a thing. I didnt push it too hard.

In the end I went with an enclosed transport to take it to get its PPF.
Enclosed Transporting - Brisbane City Towing

to be honest I have heard horror stories about towing, and I wonder if it wasn't just better to drive it there. It may just all be overkill..

Small world indeed.

If I was in Brisbane still I'd be driving it there myself. Assuming that one day it will be ready to go :rolleyes::rolleyes:

My local Toyota and BMW dealers both want my money. I tried an alignment at BMW, to my own stupidity, but I’ve got to give them credit for giving it a try. Plus, once a big box, always a big box. Anywhere in the world imo. I’d steer clear mate. Those poor oil change guys have to follow the money (easy work). A Supra (BMW) is a nightmare for them. Too much time = $$$

I have to give all you guys credit for being such badass car enthusiasts to wait so long and be so patient with your dealers (except @BMWAF - homie don’t play). Makes us all look soooooooo impatient/spoiled here in the US 😂 (okay I’ll go back to trolling and shut the fock up).

I call it as I see it and give slightly less than a fuck.

And in actual fact I'm sitting on a few dealer stories that I don't want to share until I get my car sorted and the fuck away from their incompetence. 😤

Wait till you a) try to get it serviced at a dealer and b) pray long and hard you don't have any warranty work that needs to be done.
I just accept and cop the cost of any issues myself unless it's a major or catastrophic fail. I'd rather do the servicing myself and if I need to claim warranty for something big I'm prepared to fight the manufacturer. It's been that way for me for at least 35 years and I've needed to go into bat a few times and came out on top every time. I'd rather cop the cost myself than leave any of my vehicles in the hands of a dealer tech for less major cost related issues. It's better to spend a grand than have the dealer tech let loose on my cars.
When I have taken them on over major stuff it's resulted in new engines (twice) and a new transmission once. On the bikes it's been a new frame once. That was the biggest one out of 35 new bikes over the last 25 years or so.

Facts ☝ And even if we’re not all Lucky Phil’s, Don’t do it people! It could possibly ruin your ownership experience. There are tons of great BMW mechanics out there that actually enjoy our cars. Last thing I want to do is show up on the doorstep of a place where they’re all thinking “oh shittttttttt - please please don’t make an appointment” I’ve got two mechanics that take pictures of my car, show their friends, love working on it, and put her on their webpage. That’s what I want! Same kinda of enthusiasm we’ve got.

And in actual fact I'm sitting on a few dealer stories that I don't want to share until I get my car sorted and the fuck away from their incompetence. 😤
Dude… we begged you not to go, you read the warnings ⚠ ‼ ⛔ Nooooooooooooo……

Regardless, that’s sucks broham. Chalk another beautiful Supra out of service thanks to their weakest link. Note to others out there, don’t even do the free oil change - I didn’t! Mine came with THREE free oil changes. Yet I was still stupid enough to make an appointment. I get the attraction. Free coffee, nice waiting area, the hope that this isn’t their 1st BMW they’ve likely ever worked on in their lifetime (but it is!). I got lucky I could see the massive confusion that was going on by just showing up for my “appointment”, instincts kicked in and I got back in my car and never came back.

That’s my biggest fear. Being in your situation. I hope you gets your car back soon. Lucky Phil is right. Everything should be an easy fix outside of the dealership.
