I ran time trial in TT2 this past season with nasa car was (3320lb comp weight 520HP e30 mix, KWv3 (ok not great), stoptech str-60 front caliper, hawk dtc-70s, the car is fast only reason I built it for more is because I am crazy and want to drive up mountains. There were not many competitors in tt2 in my region but was fun driving fast mostly ttu and then tt3 and 6 cars.

exploring aftermarket ecu options for over 700hp, minus rain driving I never really found 500hp to be unmanageable with VCS off having the car trying to send me like a rocket. Want to throw a sequential 6 speed in going to see where I land though might go cheap and experiment with a junkyard zf8hp70 for now with some upgraded clutch packs since cant unlock the zf8hp51

This is a minute of 4k footage from this season at Willow Springs can watch the odometer going through Turns 5-9, I am slow in the corners but that straight line speed is nice

How is Your suspension setup atm? Different springs on Ohlins? Sways?
Setup was the best it’s ever been! Autoquest did a great job, gotta say. Their main mechanic said my geometry was off. I have the same springs that the Ohlins came with, and sway bars since day one. What was new was the Vorshlag plates. Those play well with the Ohlins and allowed my tires to tuck in properly under the wheel well.

As a friend mentioned, I was missing my apexes and the Catalyst is telling me the same thing. I’d love to try the CSG pads someday. Project mu’s definitely on my to do list. I‘m going to buy my Maxxis tires again. I liked these Nankangs but they were less forgiving (got loose) when I would screw up, lol. I would slide through turn 13 at times and give the corner worker an embarrassing wave (all good) while doing so.

The Porsche, Vette and Mustang GT350 up kids were fantastic. We’d all run about the same pace. They’d give me thumbs up or hang ten hand signals. Many would come find me in the pit garage. I still love the wonder looks on how this car does what it does for the price. It’s no longer a secret, that’s for sure. One BRZ guy said he watched all of us from the hotel. It has a perfect view of the track. He didn’t realize our car can keep up with those other cars all day long. It was fun indeed ?

that's all i experienced there too lol

edit: and miatas that don't give point-bys
Yeah, Chin down here in the winter is a hyper Porsche fest. I was the only Supra besides the GT4 one. Lots of pros testing in the red group as well. Hence I love (prefer) NASA when I can drive those weekends

Chin runs very good events. They are very strict on who moves up and check out rides. I feel VERY comfortable making passes anywhere on the track with the black group. They also will let advanced groups jointly pick drills to practice and one of the best was the side by side drill where you run side by side w partner car for 2 laps and then switch positions for another 2 laps. Really eye opening being off line all over the track at 8/10 effort.

Down here red group is our highest. I’m really comfortable as well with anyone passing me. It’s fun! But I got lapped by 2 cars during one session in the red group. Those pro cars were that fast. I jumped back down to blue group and didn’t get passed at all. So it’s not that I don’t like Chin. They are a fantastic group. But in our winter season, everyone comes here and Chin is the go to for the most expensive cars on the planet. NASA I can run with HPDE 4 and the cars are very similar to mine and lots of guys amateur race. It’s just a personal thing that I prefer. No disrespect to Chin by any means ? (that’s what I get for rush typing on my way to work lol)

I didn’t take as disrespect. I got no ties to Chin anyway. There are other groups well run too. Unfortunately several- around here anyway- poorly run

Smart running where you are comfortable!

At chin events there is a gang of gt3 cup cars that basically follow the Chin events all year. One had 300+ chin events under his belt. They are very skilled and very aggressive. Had a friend drop back groups for the same reason.

We also had a very skilled driver in a super trofeo running IMSA times and group was discussing his closing speed w Miata’s It was a 100mph delta !!! Basically you had to
Look back 3 turns to even see him coming

Having shared Lime Rock with two IMSA Porsches, I know exactly how this feels. They were almost 10 secs faster than me and at Lime Rock, that is a whole other universe of fast.

At the same time, at Lime Rock my peak mph delta with Miata’s and such is around 45mph. If I am coming down the downhill into the straight and a Miata is already 3/4 of the way down the straight, I easily catch them by the first corner. It’s kinda nuts.

I’m 5 clicks, 2 stiffer than the norm (suggested). Absolutely need sway bars. I’m at Sebring mainly. I couldn’t imagine running w/out them. Body roll is spot on for me. A pro buddy went driving with me this past weekend. His only complaint was my rear brakes were a bit too grippy. LOL. Believe it or not, I’m only on Hawk DTC 60 (up front) and DTC 30 (in the rear). He says when going through certain turns, it’s nicer to have less bite in the back and help a smoother rotation.

Had he been in my car before Autoquest set it up properly, I’m sure there would have been more to tell. But with them doing what they called a Sebring setup (they race there), my car was pretty dialed in. I’ll ask more questions when I go in there next time & try to get those specs. He keeps them on a notepad I believe.

I’m in line to get my control arm fixed. Which I’ll mention in another post.

I don’t shut up, ? and was asking for more feed back.

Will do mate! Yes 5 front and 5 rear. I actually liked being on 7 clicks better & may go back to that. It just felt, smoother…. Anyway, I’m looking forward to all that info as well. He did tell me not to get all bunched up on rake because that number can change based on tires, where you measure and some other things he lost me on. He’s done literally 1000+ race car setups & goes to the track with the team for on site assistance. Really boils down to getting someone that uses some craft and not just numbers once you start throwing parts on her. That’s my belief at least…

Feeling pretty optimistic with so much room to gain on my lap times. Best lap was 2:25.97 and Optimal is 2:23.92 on my Catalyst @Sebring. Once I start improving on each sector those optimal times should continue to fall. Having confidence in your setup is huge.

So I ordered more tires, rotors & need to shop for some project mu pads to put under the tree ?

Anyone else getting track goodies for Christmas, Hanukkah or just capitalism celebration this winter?

Well, I just picked up my 3.0 1 week ago, after selling 2.0, totally stock for now...
Wanna mod it properly from the get go this time and prob will do Öhlins too, thats why I'm very interested how U have it setup with alignment, clicks and swaybars setup, so I'll try to mimick it if U say its great and adjust from there :)

I just want my car back for Christmas.... was supposed to get it back last week but of course still not ready.

However, I do have a bunch of goodies waiting for it once I get it back. Most excited to install the magnetic paddle shifters!
