Headlight Streaking Issue

I'm about to purchase a 2020 tomorrow and the one issue the dealer can't fix is this streaking on the inside of the headlight. They say that this part is not sealed and it won't be covered under warranty because it happens in humid weather and the headlight works, essentially not covering cosmetic damage.

Is there any way to get inside the headlight and clean it? Or is the entire assembly one piece or am I able to just purchase the housing?

There is no way to get inside the headlight housing without actually cracking it open so to say. That is extremely odd that it is doing that. Even if moisture were to get in there it should not dry out in that fashion. That is probably the weirdest one I've seen in general as I have seen a few with somewhat excessive moisture before working at a couple different dealerships but have only ever seen a handful that had standing water in them.

Honestly the way the streaks are in there it makes me think there is a bad seal somewhere that allowed some soap/scum inside and then it dried to create the streaks

Thank you, dealer took off a lot of money when I brought up the issue which would have me worried also but they certified it and gave the car full warranty for a year and power train for 7 years to put my mind at ease.

I'm not 100% sure how Toyota works with vehicles outside of warranty. You could always try to call Toyota Corporate and see if they would assist financially with getting it replaced? That's what I would try and do if the dealer isn't going to help out on the replacement.

Just make sure you have a quote for replacement including labor cause they will probably ask for that if they offer anything like that

Well good news is it'll be under warranty when I buy it, bad news is that the warranty explicitly excludes headlight lens, housings, and bulbs. But you're right, doesn't hurt to ask, thanks for the suggestion.

Not correct apparently. @razorlab pointed out a few months ago you can remover the controller and gain access to the inside of the light.

Strange, but if they took enough off to cover the cost of having to replace them and the rest of the car is good with a certified warranty - then I wouldn’t hesitate, personally.
